Great dehumidifier

After reviewing dehumidifiers available at many local stores and online, I realized that nearly all received mostly five stars with a few 4,3,2 or 1 stars. This indicates that if a dehumidifier works the first few weeks, people love them. If they don't work as advertised right out of the box, they hate them. I also discovered that the majority of all brands are made by Midea in China. With that information I purchased this Midea model MAD50P1ZWS on July 14, 2020. It is 50 pint (equivalent to old 70 pint) with 3 options for water collection. You can just collect the water in the container, use the hose connector to run the water by gravity to a floor drain, or use the included pump and drain line to pump the water to a stationary tub or outside. This unit was considerably less expensive than most models in other stores with fewer features. You can set the desired humidity percentage, or select comfort mode, or run continuously. It has a turbo fan speed and a timer if you want one. It worked so well that I purchased a second one a week later for our back basement. Both are working perfectly. These replace two older units. One purchased in 2009 stopped collecting water. The other is now just supplemental. Since it requires emptying the container, I expect to be emptying it very infrequently. I am using the pump feature with comfort setting on the new dehumidifiers.

I live in the Midwest so humidity isn't a big problem year long. I plan to use this unit this summer to ease the work on the Central Air unit. I've placed the dehumidifier in the spare bedroom, turned it on and within a day reduced the humidity from 55% to 35% in the entire house (1200sq).
