We're very sorry you're having this experience. Our Febreze AIR contains a natural propellant gas. If the can is shaken or tilted up or down while spraying, excess gas will escape. Denise, we're very sorry you're having this experience. Our Febreze AIR is an aerosol which uses a natural gas (nitrogen) as it's propellant. If you shake the can, or tilt it too far up or down when spraying, it will cause excess amounts of the gas to escape. Unfortunately once the nitrogen has been emptied from the can the aerosol spray will not work and any remaining product will remain in the can. While we can't be sure, we believe you were sharing your Febreze AIR 4 pack had cans which were half full. It may be helpful to know the space that looks empty really isn't, it's holding the invisible propellant, nitrogen gas. Your cans will spray as long as nitrogen is in the can. Please know, Michael, each bottle of Febreze AIR holds 8.8 ounces of liquid. The remainder of the can is holding the propellant gas, nitrogen. Without allowing for the propellant, the liquid would have no way to move out of the can and into your space, helping you, "Breathe Happy." All aerosol cans hold invisible propellant, but our cans are clear, so you can see what's inside, others are opaque.
