This is typically how aerosol containers are designed. The propellant that dispenses the product is a gas. We use 100% natural nitrogen as the propellant, and the nitrogen occupies the space above the liquid. The container has the proper amount of nitrogen needed to dispense the volume of liquid adequately. The weight listed on the package reflects the fill level of the liquid in the container. If the can is tilted in an upward or downward position when spraying, or if it's shaken before use, excess nitrogen will be released. Once the nitrogen is gone, there'll be no way to dispense the remaining product. For best results, we suggest not shaking the can, and making sure to keep it upright while spraying. Our Quality Team assures us every bottle contains 8.8 ounces of Febreze scent; the area that appears empty is filled by the invisible propellant gas. We use nitrogen, a naturally occurring gas to move the Febreze goodness from the can into your space. Be sure you don't shake the can when you spray it, as excess nitrogen will be released, leaving product intended to be used inside your can.
