Perfection. Since receiving this put I've been using at every opportunity I can. Have made stews, roasts, soups and baked Mac n cheese. Today I'm going to try bread. With the kids out of the house the pot tells me when I'm making to much. I've cut my recipes in half for hubby and myself because cooking for 6 is just to much and I like to cook and I don't always want leftovers to freeze!

Cocotte look much better in person than in photo's online. Really do appreciate the glass lid as it is a bit lighter than the original lids on the 4-qt Cocotte's which I have already. Another plus with this Cocotte is the ability to actually see the food you are cooking which to me is a big advantage and reason for me purchasing. Overall Staub has always impressed me with their quality craftsmanship and this was just another piece to add to my collection.

This 4 qt. cocotte is great for any recipe asking for a Dutch oven. Because it is smaller than your average Dutch oven, it is great for recipes for 2 people with leftovers or 4-5 for dinner. (As a gauge, I made a half recipe of Ina Garten’s Coq au Vin from Back to Basics, and it was a perfect size pot.) I have also made rice in it (great) and the typical No-Knead Bread recipe (think Jim Lahey) and it is terrific. (I have preheated it empty for bread or put the bread in cold, and either works well. Some say you can’t preheat it empty, but Staub actually has a recipe on their site for this exact pot and they say to preheat it empty. Do what you feel safest about.) Caveat: I did buy this for a spectacular price during Cyber Week almost 75% off, and that really “sweetened the pot”. Not sure I would be quite as pleased if I’d paid full price, but for what I paid, it’s totally worth every penny. It’s heirloom quality. Excellent pot.

not only is this pot stunning enough to sit on my range all the time but it has quickly become a workhouse in my kitchen ~ soups and beans and pastas and mulled cider. love the two handles for easy carrying. and the glass cover to peer in and check on simmer status.

I love this cocotte! The finish is beautifully done inside and out. It cooks evenly and the tight fitting glass lid is a great help for checking on contents without letting heat out. Cleanup is a breeze. This is not an overly heavy pan, but it's not light either--a bonus of cast iron. This is my second Staub vessel, and it won't be my last.

Love my new pot. It is the perfect size. Cooks evenly and perfectly. Love the cherry red color. It just pops with style whether you are cooking or serving.

It is beautiful enough to leave on my stove, full time, which is useful because I've used it every single day since it arrived 2-weeks ago. I'm impressed with the appearance, quality and even heat conduction (used on my gas stove).

I love it! Would have preferred Grenadine but not for twice as much $$. This one will work great for larger quantities - and I plan to use it for rice as well so I can see it as it is cooking.

This little 4-qt cocotte is perfect for cooking/baking when my 7-qt is simply too much. Hesitated about the matte black finish but so glad I selected it--brings a rustic sophistication to my open shelving and on the table.

If its your first time using cast iron, do your research. I learned pretty fast that temperature rises extremely fast. Use temperature readers and your food will be juicy and flavorful. I rate it four stars because some of the instructions are somewhat misleading but i recognize i may have misinterpreted them.
