Hello, We are sorry to hear you ran into difficulties installing our laminate flooring. As this is a thicker flooring than most on the market, it can be more difficult to click because it isn’t as flexible as thinner laminates. Our floor, like all laminates is composed of melamine resin and fiber board materials. It is not the same as vinyl and has no top layer. Thank you, Select Surfaces
