Not a purchase I would make again.

It does work as an a/c unit. Negatives: No illumination of controls, thermostat control has no numbers just a dial with arrows for less and more. Fan does NOT shut off when desired temp is reached, only the compressor does, so essentially it never stops making noise, even when it's not "cooling". Would not purchase again for these reasons.

Probably better than nothing

It doesn't work very well, even as small as my room is. I got this to supplement my central AC and I've noticed that my room actually stays warmer than the rest of the house now. This unit would be helpful if you had no other AC, but it doesn't cool the air much and it's very loud.
