While it's not common, this can occur if the brush is stored in a location exposed to mold and bacteria, and the plastic comes into contact with ingredients of a corrosive nature, such as cleaning agents, sprays, cosmetics, soaps, etc. Certain ingredients used in those types of products can make the plastic porous, allowing dirt and moisture to find places to settle. To avoid this, it's important to rinse your brush and handle separately and thoroughly after each use to prevent residue from building up. Doug & Becky, we're sorry to hear you're unhappy with the size of the brush heads. We carry out extensive research and consumer testing when designing our products. While the iO 5 has a two-minute timer, it won't shut off after two minutes of brushing; the toothbrush will stutter the vibrations every 30 seconds and pulse them after two minutes of brushing.
