Great Generator!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this generator! Its not super loud and it will come in handy around the house and especially during power outages. Its easy to move where I need it to be with the handle and wheels and it looks nice!

Solid construction and easy set up.

I spent the extra couple of bucks to get the electric start model for my wife. I'm in law enforcement and if I'm ever stuck at work during an emergency, I want it to be easy for her to set up and get things going. Right out of the box, set up was easy. Followed the directions and fired it up with the electric start. I let it run for a bit and it didn't seem any louder than any other generator that I've been around. Very happy with it.

Love the generator!!

I purchased my GP6500 primarily to run power tools. I have a large lot which makes it impractical to use an extension cord. I opened the box and followed the instructions on assembly which was easy (putting oil in the machine, wheels on etc.). I put gas in it and it started flawlessly. I have run a 15 amp table saw and shop vac simultaneously with no problem. In addition, I plugged in a power washer and ran it for hours without an incident. When you start it and hear it run you can tell it is a quality machine. It has a lot of power and runs very smooth. I even use it when I have access to power because I like it so much.

Works well.

There are two minor suggestions to improve the handling of the generator. One: The handle is too high for a person of average height. In order to move the generator I have to bend my arms. Two: The supports in the rear to balance the generator are made from very thin sheet metal easily bent. Yoram Manor

Solid performer after fixing battery issue.

Solid performer after fixing battery issue. The battery died after 6 months and would not hold a charge. After installing a new battery and a disconnect so the battery no longer had a drain on it, I also installed a motorcycle style trickle charger. It now works perfectly and the battery holds a charge. I keep the battery disconnected until it's time to use it. It is now a perfect generator after the $50 upgrade. Too bad Generac did make the improvements in the factory because it does take a certain amount of expertise and engineering to correct the problem but is doable if you have the right tools. I will attach some photos at a later date.

Great overall unit but…

We purchased our generator just before hurricane Helene came through as our older generator of 20 years stopped working. The new unit worked fine for the week we were without power but started dripping some oil the last two days. After speaking to Generac and then taking it to an authorized repair dealer we were without the unit for almost six months due to no part available. Thankfully we didn’t need the unit as we never lost power during that time but that is way too long to wait for a repair.

Easy Start, Easy Connect, Generator and CO Protection!

A Great Friend brought me a Generic GP6500 he just bought that he only used for 2 hours. My Coleman hit the dust during the heavy rain of Florence. House was wired for generator and the GP6500 powered my freezer, refrigerator, lights and a portable AC unit during Hurricane Florence. Power has been out for a week with no problems. Rated at 40 amps the breaker lets you know when you are turning on to many circuits that add up quickly. Using LED lights through out your house helps on the wattage load.

Finally bought a Generator and It is a Generac

Wife and I have been talking about a Generator for 10 yrs. WE lost power at 3 am. This yr we switched to a Pellet stove and she has a Cpap Machine to sleep with. Went to the Lowes in Ludington Mich and got the last Generac that they had. The unit was awesome ran the pump, frig, pellet stove Cpap. In the spring I am getting the manual bypass switch/breaker/cable and back feed the House.

Excellent product!

Ran generator for approx. 50 hrs. straight, except for re-fueling, during Hurricane Irene. It provided reliable power and saved us quite a bit of money by not having to replace food. Also provided comfort as it powered my central air conditioning with no trouble. Easy to set up and start. Acceptable noise level for size of unit. Does like gas!

First Generac

It is a little noisier than expected. But for 7500 watts and the portability, it is no issue at all. I've had other brands of generators in the past, and the quality of Generac has exceeded my expectations. As a homeowner and Master Electrician I give it an A+
