We buy this hot chocolate mix all the time and keep it stocked in the cold months. The old container, while quite heavy when full, came with a scoop and the lid was super tight so when you picked it up, it would be difficult to accidentally open the lid and spill it. We just bought the new style container and I must say the whole Family consensus agrees it was not a smart redesign (only in sense of being more recyclable?) We moved the new mix into the old round container we happened to have kept on hand. I know this is not Sam's Club issue, but in case the manufacturer happens to read reviews, well take our opinion for what it's worth!

Ordered this product from Sam's online, and they shipped me 2 canisters that were damaged and leaking. It made a complete mess with all of the chocolate powder spilling everywhere. It is very sad that they would use the online service in order to get rid of their damaged merchandise. I also received a coffee container in this same order with a broken seal. Unbelievable that they would try to push these damaged items on their paying members. Will not use their online service again!

This is a HUGE ripoff!!! In store a 38.27 oz container is $5.54 (0.1447 cents per ounce) whereas this 76.48 oz container is $27.27 (0.3565 cents per ounce). Perhaps I am miscalculating something but this is the math I arrive at. If I am incorrect I hope a reviewer will set me straight. I signed up but can't find what I normally purchase in store which is unsettling.

I only ordered 8 items. One can of Bush baked beans and one can of Progressive Minestrone soup; both came damaged. I also ordered a $10.50 4.78 lb cardboard canister of Swiss Mix Hot Cocoa mix. This was shipped separately from the other two cans. It too was damaged, prior to putting it in the shipping box. Both shipping boxes were in perfect condition, so it proves these 3 cans were damaged before they shipped them.

The new packaging that is "easy to hold" makes the lid pop off as you grip it. I actually put mine in the old packaging because 1) it would make a huge mess to get all of that product all over and 2) if it didn't make a mess, the product would ruin with a slightly open lid. As far as the cocoa, we love this product and love buying it a Sam's because we use huge mugs and measuring it ourselves is much more practical than the envelopes. They just need to get rid of the current packaging.

I love the product but the packaging has now changed from a cardboard canister to a plastic one. I have been trying so hard to avoid products that use plastic and it's getting harder by the day. Why can't companies be more respectful the planet? Back to packets for me..

I've been using this product for awhile so this isn't just a random review. More than half the time, this new packaging breaks open during shipping. This time I requested a replacement & I received broken open hot cocoa in a trash bag. I'm not sure trash bags qualify for food storage, so there goes that into the trash. Sorry Sam's Club, one star on this item. Tell your supplier to go back to the rounded cardboard cans because these new thin plastic ones are terrible.

They must have changed their formula to save on cost. It is super sweet, and doesn't taste like it used to.

This is almost twice as much as Wal-Mart charges!
