[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Impressive product overall. Our yard is large hilly, shady, very shady in spots and we have hard time getting grass to grow in certain spots. With us living in the rainiest county in our state it's exceptionally difficult to get grass seed that can stand up to the downpours and still sprout and take root. My husband and I were cautiously optimistic about Scott's Turf Builder Seed( for sunny or shady areas ) and it's prospects for our yard. So I applied the seed using my spreader per the directions on the package and hoped for the best. A few days later we got a massive downpour and I was certain it had washed away every seed and any chance of building up our lawn and covering the bare spots. Imagine my surprise when we went out the day after the rain and the see was still there and hanging tough. Now fast forward a few weeks and we have new grass growing in the bare spots and thicker grass where it usually is choked out by the shadiness we have to contend with. Scott's does it again! Our lawn is healthier, we are happier and our kiddo is loving playing outside and literally watching the new grass grow! I highly recommend this mix of you have had issues in the past with shadiness being a problem in getting your lawn filled out in the shady spots. We did and we don't regret it at all.

I used my spreader with this to distribute the seed evenly across the baren patches of grass in my yard and it is coming in beautifully I water twice a day and will continue to do so for a few weeks. I followed the instructions on the package and while it grew well in the shady areas I had to redo the seeding three times in the patches in the sun. I was careful to water the seed as directed but it simply did not perform well in the heat.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade is the only product we will use to regrow and start new lawns. Our yard is in a bowl where some half the yard is constantly in shade while the other half is in full, hot sun so the perfect mix of fesque and rye grass work very well in our High Sierra desert dirt. The seeds need a light dirt cover and at a regular 3 time a day for the first 2 weeks watering schedule of 15 to 20 minutes was more than enough to grow bright green and dense lawn. Extremely happy with our Sun and Shade Grass seed.

I tilled our lawn and removed the old grass, then spread premium top soil before spreading the seed. It has been getting watered twice a day for the last SEVEN WEEKS! What do I have to show for the expense and effort? Nothing but a few random clumps of grass! I will never purchase another Scott's product! What a scam!

The sun and shade mix is superb because it will grow anywhere…even without a lot of light. If you need to get new grass seed, you can't go wrong with this Scotts sun and shade mix.
