Garmin Mini 2 Dash Cam

I have had the camera for a couple of weeks or so and like the fact it was easy to install and is very unnoticeable.

The camera when it finally connects has a great picture!! But trying to get connected is very frustrating !! ⭐️

Not happy

Good entry level product. Need smartphone obviously and reset with auto on/off.  Only negative it it only does one direction but that is expected.

I like it

the camera is easy to use and install.  Hardly any wires since i am going from the digital rear view mirror to the Garmin Dash Cam.  Love it so far

Don't let the size fool you

Will not connect to iPhone.  Tried everything.  No  help from Garmin

This is my 2nd mini. No complaints. Would purchase another for rear facing.

Returned because it got very hot. I'm not saying a bit hot, I'm saying really hot.

Horrible shipping. Shipped the cheapest way possible. Came with damaged dinged up box of item. Be careful when buying from Walmart. You are really ‘Not’ buying from Walmart!

I've been using 2 of these in my car for nearly 5 years. The video on one failed so I replaced them both with the Mini 2. There are a few improvements that (otherwise) I don't think would be worth upgrading for. Voice activation: meh. I can push the button. Video quality is not any better. But certainly if buying a car video system new they are absolutely worth it. 

Good
- Small, effective, inexpensive
- Video is fine
- Simple but good enough for most applications. Other cameras are overkill. 
- Lasted 5 years before one started to fail.

Disappointments: 
- Software and connectivity: the first Mini was extremely flakey. I have to jump through hoops every time I want to connect to adjust the cameras. I was hoping the Mini 2 would improve but it is no better. I actually sort of dread having to connect and therefore don't. (I do tech for a living.) 
- Downloading to phone is pointless (takes forever). Just remove the SD card. 
- The SD cards are spring loaded, like most devices, but this is a stupid design and it often slips off of your fingernail and goes flying. 
- The sticky mount is a dumb design and you can't (easily) change the location. (They give you two, but still.)  If you get a new car you have to buy new mounts. But there are plenty of good suction cup alternatives online.
- The biggest "gotcha" is the wireless vault. On the web page they do say "storage plans", but this is a bait and switch, pure and simple. Very expensive unless you are using the videos all the time. Should just save to your phone automatically each time you push the button to save: Duh.
