The software is in desperate need of improvement. These are the areas I have noted (all in remote view): 1. Growing time lag. I have four cameras and there are different time lags after a while, for all 4 cameras, in live view. They are at times out of sync by 10s of seconds. It gets worse the longer the view is up. 2. The view of one or more cameras randomly drops out (the red dot selection on the right than turns off and that quadrant for the channel turns black). I then have to close live view and re-open it. 3. The "Favorite View" setting does not work; it does not remember the view setup the next time you open live view. Please, please, please, Night Owl, fix your software. Feel free to contact me with any questions and suggestions.

I am glad I purchased the Night Owl security set. After researching a dozen other systems, and meticulously reading all the features and pros/cons (and taking advantage of the holiday discount), I new this was the right choice. I had a friend help with the wired install (with 6 cameras with light and voice) took a good part of a whole day), and after loading the app was in business! Next is the doorbell. Also, I had a question on the shipment and Night Owl answered my email within 2 hours! Now that's service.

Positives of this product are that the color and picture clarity is good. Easy to install, connects to both monitor and phone app. Negatives of this product is that video relay to screen is a little delayed and the wide angle distortion starts to far from the camera for our needs.

Cameras work well, setting up the hardware was straight forward, and easy enough. Running the wires can be a challenge depending the layout of the dwelling. He 60-ft BNC cables were sufficitne for seven of the runs, however, it required a 100-ft cable for the 8th run. Working in the attic is not for the faint-of-heart! Instructions for setting up the software are seriously lacking. Expect to make calls to customer support. My preference is "hardwire" rather than WiFi.....more private, no monthly fees, and doesn't cut into your bandwidth.

I purchased this product, it does not record, the box says it does but I'm being told not I have to buy a hard drive or another Dvr with built in recording, why is it called a Dvr if it doesn't record

I bought this to replace my old nightowl system and wholly crap!! This system and the new app are sweet! Cameras are clear and I can now read license plates with ease! I'm still stund at the clarity of these cameras and the distance they reach! Thanks again nightowl !!

I have been using Night Owl security systems for 15 years. My first unit was a 8 camera wired dvr, my second was a 16 a camera wired unit. This is my third unit, a 16 camera wired unit with the option to add four additional wifi cameras. I hope that it performs as well as the first two, my only worry is that it runs hot as it does not have an internal fan as my first two systems did. This may shorten the lifespan of the unit.

I needed a security camera system that would provide me with local storage in case of internet outage. This system provided what I was looking for. The wired installation was also easy to install and provided me with not needing a/c or battery power at each location.

CAMERAS ARE JUST GREAT-CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET NOT SO GREAT. I HAVE SEVERAL SYSTEMS AND NIGHT OWL CANNOT BE BEAT. JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER! THE SPOT LIGHT IS A GREAT IDEA TOO! I TRIED CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET AND JUST GAVE UP. I'LL WORK WITHOUT IT AND BE OKAY, IF I DO HAVE ANY PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD, I'LL GET MY GRANDSON TO CONNECT IT !

I have had the system for about 3 weeks now. This is my 3rd Night Owl system I have purchased. The picture quality is great for the price point. I can't speak to the longevity yet. Hopefully this will last as long as the last system. The app could use a little work as sometimes I have to back out and reboot the app to get it to respond. Overall I am very pleased
