The generator does what it is suppose to do very well, it's been a savor for a couple storms and power outages. But I have been made aware that the generator should be shut down after prolonged outages intermittently. Which I'm trying to understand what one does when you're away for a prolonged period of time and there is a prolonged outage while you're away?

Since these initial and really no longer relevant items above there have been two emergency stops. I basically emailed everybody for whom I had an address and Kirsten Sandoval responded and told me how to to fix the error. "This issue can be resolved by going out to the generator, making sure the black switch located on the back of the generator is in the up position open the generator lid press off press enter, press auto, and that should clear the code." The first time that occurred was September 7, 2025 according to the date on the email and it occurred once more earlier this year. There is a possible future problem here in that my spouse is not mobile and I am becoming less mobile with age and I can foresee some time in the future when I can't go outside and fix it myself so if there is a permanent fix that would be great. For a period of time after installation the mobile connection would fail for a period of time. I made several complaints and perhaps somebody came out and fixed it when I wasn't here or they did something online to fix it but it has worked fine since.

I bought this generator and installation was attempted by a Generac “Elite” dealer and installer. Now, 3 weeks later, and after multiple attempts by the installer, IT STILL DOES NOT WORK! There are battery charging error codes and fuel delivery error codes. If it comes on during the weekly self test it shuts off after 4 minutes, the warning light turns red and it sends a warning that it won’t restart in an emergency. Don’t waste your money buying a Generac 22KW whole house standby generator. Look at other brands that actually work .

We had a bad thunderstorm yesterday and lost power for a couple of hours. Our generator came on and worked perfectly. We would not have known the power was off and the generator had taken over if it had been for us hearing the generator running and the light blinking. I gave a 5 star rating because of the way the generator has performed even though I am still not happy about being put off about the damages,

I live north of Buffalo, NY and we get some wild weather. 20+ years ago I had a 13kw partial home Generac generator installed I never had an issue with its operation for 2 decades. Due the age of the 13kw and hours I had on the unit - I added a manual hour meter; it was time for an upgrade. I chose the 18kw whole house with external whole house transfer switch. The dealer arrived with 2 installers and 3 electricians and knocked out the replacement installation in about 6 hours which was remarkably fast. It was also tiptop work and passed the town electrical inspection quickly. The new 18kw whole house Generac is totally next generation with the app connectivity, ease of access for service, upgraded all aluminum cabinet, sloped top to assist snow removal to the front of the machine away from the rear air intake and the included battery and oil filter heater and an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery, not a standard lead acid battery ensuring top performance in very cold weather. The green status light on the side and even on the air intake is huge improvement as well along with app. The whole house function is worth the investment because I no longer have to guess which circuits are powered. My only concern is that the rear located air intake is a little too low to the ground for my comfort. The rear air intake is only 16 inches off the ground (see photo) and we can get 24 inches of blowing, drifting snow fast. With the low air intake could potentially get blocked with snow. I'm mulling some sort of a DIY snow guard near the air intake on the back of the generator. Perhaps a drift fence on both sides of the generator about 2-3 feet away. I also enabled a 7-year warranty on the new 18kw Generac as part of a promotion, a definite plus. Based on my 20+ years of Generac ownership and after seeing the remarkable upgrades on the 2026 whole home 18kw Generac unit I can enthusiastically endorse Generac automatic standby natural gas generators without hesitation

I have had my generator for 1 year. Love it. Great investment. Peace of mind just knowing that it's there. I have used it a few times, generator comes on seconds after a power outage. My home functions don't skip a beat during a storm. Definitely recommend.

We purchased it about 2 years ago and it pretty much has failed us when the need arises during storms or other weather in climate conditions. This was bought because I have a cpap machine and need it to sleep. Also to protect the contents of our freezer and fridge.

I have had it for a year now, and of course there has not been a power outage since the installation. However I did decide to run a simulation of an outage and was very happy with the results. My only issue is the description provided on Generac's website, makes it sound like the noise level is just above the level of an air conditioner. If I had an air conditioner that loud, I would be worried!!

Had this installed on 4/8, today is 5/20 and it still has never been working. Generac has been no help whatsoever, they're more concerned about selling their next generator, than trying to replace the lemon they gave me with a new one. I do not recommend at all!!

Bought 2 months ago and not satisfied ,Contractor had to Come 4 weeks straight to deal with low fuel pressure fault/shutdown during weekly exercise. Not very confident that generator will work properly during loss of power due to these issues Contractor who installed where outstanding
