Our new 22kw air-cooled Generac replaced a smaller Generac unit we had previously installed and which was also working fine at the time, too. We just wanted more capacity so we could add circuits. Both our Generacs have performed as advertised during every power outage. They have kept our well, HVAC, three freezers, two fridges plus the main floor of our home all powered up.

The general speaks for itself I'm enjoying it very much when the power goes off I can continually enjoy my day at home whether it cooking cleaning or whatever I do t have to sit around and wait for power to come back on and great features to keep everything running in your house. Thanks Generac

Pretty straight forward install. My actual costs were about half what a pro quoted not including chasing parts and my labor. Commissioning was straight forward also. Notable notes: Im not 100% satisfied on the auto start. The engine start takes longer than i like and it stumbles a bit. Plan to recheck gas service. Its also a bit louder than expected. From pre buy conversations with local dealers i dont expect much support either because i didnt give them the total sale. Consider that before you buy from a wholesaler.. I will review again after the first power loss.

Our 22KW has been installed a few months and already run a bit over 60 hours so enough use cycles have been experienced to let me recommend this unit to anyone looking to protect their home or business from periodic, even frequent, power outages. The only points keeping me from providing an unreserved five star rating are these: The unit looks fine: functional and solid. It is loud! Focusing the noise away from your house/business should be a consideration in placement. (Probably many generators of this size and construction have similar issues but I am more aware now!) The whole house transfer switch is critical and buying this as part of the generator bundle is a great value. No matter who you choose to do the installation (from DIY to independent contractor to Generac Recommended), be aware a proper installation requires expensive wiring; potential ground excavation; and a very competent electrician comfortable in all aspects of electrical wiring; general contracting and local building codes. This too is something any generator/transfer switch install will require, but be very aware installation can be a SIGNIFICANT cost of the total project. Finally, I don't have the add on unit which allows internet alerts (I am considering this additional expense), but I think it would be very convenient. The unit functions with minimal maintenence and has smart diagnostics, but being alerted remotely would be a real plus. I think this functionality should be built into the unit in today's age at some marginal added cost. (Adding this to every unit should bring the cost down to almost nothing for the manufacturer.) Overall, very pleased with the unit, build, design and value. Were I to make a purchase again, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Generac. (In my location and situation I would/should have done it sooner!) I actually overbought for my situation. My home would likely work fine on a 16 KW, but on advice from knowlegable friends, it is always better to "overbuy" and not tax the generator than risk running at 80-100% capacity on full normal load. There are also some benefits to certain units. Shop for your needs now and in the future. This should be a great long term investment in your piece of mind and your property. Good luck!

Just had it installed Tuesday so can't really comment to much on the working product yet but everyone I know loves theirs but I will say the company that put it in for me Weekly Electric of Newark Ohio did a wonderful job of installing it and answering all my questions and they went over all the aspects of how it works and what I need to do.

Great product. Works by itself even maintenance testing. Gives us great peace of mind to know we will always have electricity. We had no electricity for a week a couple of years ago due to ice storms and it was awful. When 30,000 + other homes don't have it either it was hard to travel on ice or find vacant hotels. Believe me a camping heater won't keep your home warm. Tried it. A neighbor was out of state during storm and he came back to broken water pipes and water and electric damage! Anyone on the fence should get one before it's needed. Get this installed by Generac company certified for maximum quality. Failing to plan is planning to fail.

We had just had it installed several days before a hurricane. It was wonderful to have the secure feeling of having power to our home!! It worked great for the 3 days that we did not have power. It has also come on again about a month ago. We didn't even know our power had gone off due to a cut line in our neighborhood. It is a blessing to us!!

I bought my 22KW wifi enabled unit in April of 2024 along with a service contract from my authorized installer. For the 18 months the unit reliably performed its weekly check run along with providing power during half a dozen power outages that typically lasted from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Many times I didn’t even know the generator turned on and only found out in the monthly email report. Then we had a bad snow storm in March 2026 that knocked out power for nearly 4 days. The generator ran flawlessly. I am very happy we bought this unit.

After 6 months of operation it appears this product is very well put together. It has never failed on any power outages or weekly exercises. I like the quietness of operation and the seamless transfer from utility power to emergency. The only problem that I have with this product is the fact that I cannot enter the length of exercise time. In the winter, I would prefer to exercise the run time longer than 10 minutes. I would prefer to run test exercise at least 20 minutes. As owner I should have the ability to control my own exercise time.

The day after we completed our installation and testing, the power went out due to high winds and storms, withing a few seconds of the power dropping the generator kicked in and we had power once again. The power was out for approximately 2-1/2 hours and when it came back on the generator shut down as expected and is ready for the next outage. Awesome to have such a reliable and efficient product to place peace of mind and a safe feeling up here in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan where the weather brings ice and snow this time of year. We added the cold weather kit and Mobile Link unit as well just to make sure all is ready.
