I love it!!!!!

I love it. I don’t know how I lived without it. I love the extras, the small bowl, scraper and whisk. I made pizza dough last weekend and will be trying fresh pasta next. It is easy to use and there is a lot of information that KitchenAid provides in their manual, their YouTube videos and recipes online. When you make it yourself, you can control what goes in and I believe it will always tase better.

The Perfect Kitchen-Aid Addition

This was a great buy. It lives up to its name of being an aid in the kitchen. The color is perfect and it makes bread making a breeze. We need this for our business and it has been a huge help since they day it arrived. We've been able to make so many more perfect loaves of bread and pasta for a meal service project we've been tasked with managing.

Hope It Last!

When testing the mixer a shrapnel/fragment fell from the planetary. If it fell in batter, it could have been life threatening because it was quite sharp. The fragment was coated with the same color as my mixer on one side. The other side was a shiny aluminum that easily broke when bent. Since then nothing else fell so I made some peanut butter cookies. Also, I can’t use the 3 quart bowl and combi-whip because the whip hits the bowl and the bowl doesn’t always latch on the back. I hope this mixer last awhile.

Small bowl.and blade cannot be used

When using the small bowl one of the mixing blades scrapes the bowl. We exchanged the item and the same thing is happening. Customer service is sending us a new bowl and mixing blade. Hopefully that works.but I am doubtful. For the price we paid I feel we should be able to use all the accessories

Lot's of power but hard to remove attachment

The 5.5 qt mixer has plenty of power and the larger bowl means ingredients don't spill over the top. However, since the head doesn't tilt you have to remove the attachment by twisting and lowering it into the bowl of ingredients, even with the bowl lowered. Also be sure to read the instructions on how to remove/insert the bowl. It fits over a peg on each side and a spring catch in the back. It's easy once you see how it's done but not necessarily intuitive.

Should be easier to use

I wanted this version of KitchenAid mixer because the more basic version was difficult to stir mixture and get to the bottom of the bowl without my hands ending up coated with batter. So I thought the lift feature of this mixer would solve that problem. Now I have a different challenge. If I put my ingredients in the mixer bowl, then place it in the stand, there’s no room for the paddle. If I attach the paddle after the bowl is in place, again I have to shove it into my ingredients. I thought the shallow bowl and the lift feature would make mixing a dream but instead it’s a struggle. Why is this the mixer of choice for cooking programs?

Good old days

The kitchen aid mixer is still nice, however, the quality seems to have gone south. I actually have 3 other kitchen aid mixers and all are of excellent quality, even my very first one I ever bought 50 years ago. Not sure what happened or what is going on, but please keep your reputation as being the best mixer and quality construction. The mixer bowl handle is not rounded out like the others I have, which is a bit on the sharp side when holding it in the palm of hand. The mixer itself(silver) is nothing like the silver 5 qt I bought a few years back, it almost feels like plastic. Hopefully, kitchen aid mixers are still made in the US. I have become a bit suspect because of the lack of quality. It will serve the purpose, but am disappointed with quality of how it is built. the additional small bowl and whip etc. is nice, price was fair.

4.5 tilting mixer is better!

Doesn't work as well as the 4.5 mixer with a tilting head. The larger bowl is nice BUT the overall features make it hard to mix and add ingredients. Not impressed at all. It's loud and clinks when mixing. There isn't a spring by the attachment to let it have a little give like the other mixers have. You have to take the mixing paddle off when you remove the bowl - makes a bigger mess. Overall not pleased and won't recommend this one to others.

Great stand mixer

This is a great mixer. I had the tilt head before but this better and instead of tilting the head you just lower the bowl. Also one review stated that the beater hit the bowl well if you read your instructions it tells you to run the mixer with the beater to see if there is enough room and if you need to adjust there is a screw on the neck to adjust the beater. The bonus was the extra bowl you can use it for cake mixes etc.

Too large, too heavy

We had to return it. This thing is a beast. My wife could not make the bowl snap into place or get it to come back out again. It was also too tall. This model must be a commercial version. We bought a lighter-duty model at another store. If you have the space and the muscles, this mixer is for you.
