Great 1st Gen. Could be better.
After 3 months of use I can say the Ultra Open Earbuds’ sound/fit/comfort are all great. Battery life Is…ok. Luckily they charge relatively quickly. The Bluetooth connection (iPhone 15 Pro Max) has been terrible. I lose connection to one earbud pretty often with PiP. The app will also unpair randomly, so I can be connected in phone settings while listening to something, but the app will report a failure to connect. I’ve been through all the recommended steps to resolve without any improvement. That said, I didn’t have any issues until the latest firmware update, so hopefully that goes away soon. I see the UO Earbuds as the more convenient and discreet evolution of the Bose Soundwear, which I still love and use …while my buds charge. Overall, the concept is awesome and the initial execution is promising but leaves me wanting more. I hope Bose expands on the UOE and delivers a polished 2nd gen.
Simply Amazing Ultra Open Earbuds!!
I received these Bose Ultra Open Earbuds as a gift and I am impressed! The open ear concept is game changing and innovative! Sound quality is extremely important to me and these do not disappoint. The Immersive setting literally reminds me of surround sound system sitting in your ears. These earbuds are lightweight and did not cause me any pain especially after wearing them many hours each day. The unique design hold on to your ears without any problem. I have a very active lifestyle which includes running, mountain biking and cardio workouts and was skeptical about these holding up and not falling out unexpectedly. Once you put these in your ears and find the right spot, they don’t move! The only time one fell out is when I came home and my dog excitedly licked my face and ears and knocked one out. There is no On/Off button on these. Once you put them in, they are technically “On” all the time. If your phone isn’t being used, they go into a standby mode until something happens (phone call, text message, email notification or any other type of notification) and then like magic, they are on and ready to work. The Ultra Open Earbuds have an amazing battery life on their own and have lasted me a full day of use (talking on the phone, streaming music and movies) without needing a charge in the middle of the day. When I go to bed, I drop them in the charging case and repeat the process again the next day. I’ve gone for 5 days without the need to recharge the case. Again, these are an open ear design and allow you to be consciously aware of your surroundings. This is important especially if you are out in the public listening to music or talking to someone on the phone you can still hear what’s happening around you. I may have attended several company meetings while wearing these and still listening to my music and nobody around me could hear the music playing even when the volume was actually quite high…. During several phone calls I was sitting next to a colleague and he could not hear the caller I was talking to. I turned the volume all the way up and he leaned into me to see if he could hear the conversation and could only hear minor noise; not necessarily hearing and actual words. This is important to me since I spend 8-9 hours a day on the phone. I can still hear me colleagues talking to me while I’m on the phone. I am not new, nor am I an amature to Bose Products. I have their original Bose BT2 Bluetooth headset, a really old pair of QC-3s (about 14 years old that my daughter is still using), QC-35 headphones (8 years old), the Headphones 700 I bought myself for Christmas, the Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700 (with surround speakers and bass module), and several Bluetooth speakers. EVERYTHING still works as good as it did when it was brand new. With that being said, these do not disappoint and are truly amazing earbuds & hold up to the Bose name, quality and cosmetically aesthetic designs!
Bose Does It Again! Outstanding New Design!
I got these new Bose Ultra Open Earbuds 3 weeks ago. These are now my new favorites!! I have tried many different brands of earbuds over the years. Most of the top brands. Then I splurged and tried a pair of Bose several years ago and never turned back. I now have multiple Bose products and have not been disappointed in any of them. I’ve tried these in different environments. At work. At home. Outside. Riding the UTV. These are the most comfortable earbuds I’ve ever worn. I have small ear canals so these are perfect for me! I’ve had them in hours at a time. The immersive audio is very unique and I was blown away at how Bose came up with a design to make it seem like the sound is projected out in front of you like a concert. Unbelievable, yet they managed to do it perfectly. The motion mode is very impressive. I would never have believed a small earbud could produce the sound that these do outside of the ear canal and the sound be manipulated to stay in one location and then move with you. The stereo mode works very well and sounds amazing. The sound, tones and clarity are very spot on. I can hear background sounds in videos like I am there with them. Bass is deep and clear. I love my Bose Quiet Comfort Ultras I have and use the noice cancellation feature often on those. Mostly when I am working and trying to block out everything so I can focus. These open concepts don’t have noise cancellation, but honestly, it doesn’t make me love them any less. I will be using these for listening to music, videos and everything else. I haven’t had any issues with these so far and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Thank you Bose for this opportunity to enjoy another one of your revolutionary products!!
Great, but not for me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to try these earbuds. The problem is that they didn't adjust to my ears. It ended up being too far away. That made it such that I could not hear people on my phone clearly. Sad because I really wanted to like these.
Very Comfortable Earbuds, Some technical issues
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this product about a month ago. In some ways, I really love this product. I have big ears and I’m pretty sporty, and these earbuds are among the most comfortable I’ve ever had. I can easily forget about them while wearing them, and they are great for runs. However, there have been a myriad of technical issues that make this product hard to recommend at its high price point. I have had repeated issues with getting calls to go through these earbuds, and when they do go through, the volume is much lower than expected. This is strange, because I otherwise have no issues with other media. Overall, I really like these earbuds but I struggle to recommend them because of these issues
Waiting on 2nd and 3rd generations
I purchased this product about two months ago. It becomes a little painful after a while(nothing unbearable), easily falls off with no way to track them, and too pricey. With all that being said, it’s a first generation and I’m looking forward to trying the 2nd and 3rd generation models.
Tips for Bose Open Earbuds
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These headphones are the most comfortable open earbuds I've ever used.I've used Shokz's Open fit and Huawei's open earbuds. The Bose gave me the best wearing comfort of the three. The music experience is also perfect. While it has to go without saying that in some ways, this should be a problem at the firmware level, Bose will fall short, and I have summarized the problems that have arisen in a month of use.Hopefully this can be improved in subsequent version upgrades. 1 During normal press time, there is a short disconnection problem. 2 The microphone sound is too low when talking outdoors. 3 I don't have a way to check the charge level of the charging compartment through the app. The advantages 1 Very comfortable to wear 2 Sound quality is excellent 3 Responsive, very low latency Bluetooth connection. 4 Indoor and outdoor automatic volume adjustment. This is very practical.
Comfortable fit
The open earbuds design is sleek and the earbuds are extremely light, comfortable and you will not even know that you are wearing them. The sound quality is premium and you can move it a bit to find the right spot for best sound. You can select the automatic sound level settings and adjust the equalizer in the Bose Music App so that the sound has your desired tone and is automatically increased in noisy environment so that your listening experience remains the same. The battery life is pretty good, 19.5 hours of standby battery life in the charging case, about 7.5 hours of play time and about 4.5 hours with Immersive Audio.
Variety of bonuses
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought my Bose x Lisa ultra open earbuds when they dropped on the website and have only used them over my AirPods since receiving them. Easier to use and less worry about them falling out. It of help that I can use them with my piercing in!
Great, not perfect.
These are great, but not perfect. It's a wonderful solution for people with glasses, but they do make my ears ache after a few minutes. You have to build up tolerance. The sound is great. The multipoint switching works well. No Windows app, and does not work with Teams on Windows at all. The mic is good but not the best. Open ear design is amazing, though.
