Ok, this will be a little lengthy but stay with me and hear me out. I've been using Tide laundry products for over 40 years and I was around when liquids came on the market and I used them so I know what the fragrance was like back then. When I first started using the liquid Tide in the early 90s it had a unique but simple fragrance which smelled just like a strong soap. Then as the years progressed, people complained that they didn't like their clothes smelling like "laundry soap" so the era of "fruity, floral, disgraceful scents" was born and every detergent manufacturer followed that trend and folks were happy but I was not so I went back to powder AND another brand. Then folks got tired of of heady, headache inducing aroma of "flowers and sweet tarts" recently and wanted something else; hence it seems that Tide has reverted back to the old scent of Tide liquid with just a few minor adjustments to the fragrance. I decided to try it and I was very surprised to find that it had that old familiar soap smell with just a hint of "perfume" but not the sickeningly sweet fragrance from just a short time ago. When the proper amount is used per load of laundry, clothes come out of the dryer with just enough fragrance to notice but not enough to overwhelm you. In conclusion; each generation that gets introduced to Tide's line of laundry products will always have some gripe or compliment. Those of us who were around when the original scent of the powder and later the liquid are really the ones who notice how much or little the scent has changed over the years. P.S. The only reason I gave 4-stars for value is due to the price still being one of highest among laundry detergents but still pretty good since I'm still getting Tide's signature clean.

Usually dirt, grass stains, urine, as well as the typical food and food stains end up in every load of laundry. Tide Original is the absolute BEST laundry detergent for heavily soiled loads of laundry. I am always amazed at how clean my kids clothes come out looking. The clothes smell fresh and look great. I also love how easy this particular bottle is to use. I have purchased liquid laundry detergent before from other brands that is very messy and drippy. The cap on this bottle is very easy to measure out and I haven't had any issues at all with dripping. Overall, great product!

It effectively removed tough stains and left my clothes smelling fresh. The convenient measuring cap also makes it easy to use just the right amount. Overall, a reliable and effective choice for keeping laundry clean and smelling great. I will definitely continue using Tide daily to wash mine and my family's laundry.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed using the liquid detergent especially because my normal use is the tide pod originals. after comparing the two, I felt that when I switched over to using the liquid detergent that my clothes were coming out much softer, cleaner, and smelling nicely like the detergent. The way the cap designed has changed is also very well designed. I liked using it much more not having to worry that the detergent would be spilling everywhere. I’m definately going to be switching back to this Tide Original Liquid Detergent from now on

Oh this is definitely the best detergent out there in my opinion. My mom used it when I was a kid and she was very particular about laundry. It does a good job of cleaning and it smells decent. As I’ve been an adult I have tried to buy more cost efficient brands but always come back to tide. It does the best job of cleaning.

I’ve tried using cheaper detergents, some work ok for lightly soiled garments but Tide works really well for “dirty” clothes. Tide truly is my go-to detergent.

It cleans and gets rid of stains better than any detergent that I’ve used. I have a toddler and a husband in the military so I’ve tackled some pretty heavy duty stains and Tide gets rid of them all.

A lot of detergents have the cap fit over the container so the product oozes all over the bottle. This cap fits inside and you don’t end up with puddles of detergent all over the laundry room

I've always loved the smell of laundry hung outside. My grandmother was a strong Tide user, so I loved the smell Tide from the clothes line. We got ourselves a HE washer 4 years ago, and I went with the HE Powdered detergent. The smell brought back my child hood. When I ran out, I ran to the store to get some, and they were out. I had to go liquid stuff.. I thought, well give it a try. Did my next load, and when that came out of the washer, the scent was STRONG! Ughh.. I could not stand it. Even my partner mention the strong scent! I still got the bottle sitting on my shelf since I refuse to use it on my clothes. I"m back to the powdered stuff!
