Beautiful but useless

Rubbermaid is known for their quality products, and I was expecting this same quality when buying the Twist and Seal containers. Boy was I disappointed. Though lovely to look at (far more aesthetically pleasing than its happy competitor), when it came to function it was a dud. The first time it happened, I dismissed it as a fluke and threw that one container away, but it kept happening...batch after batch of fruit cocktail, spinach juice, and other wet foods were leaking all over the rest of my lunch. Finally, I had enough and now only use the set as regular leftover storage in my refridgerator, ever mindful of the fact that I cannot tip the containers over.

lid snapped on first use

The deep squares are a good size overall--not too big and not too small--making them versatile for my needs, and the plastic of the bowl itself is very sturdy. The VERY FIRST TIME I removed the lid from one of the bowls, however, it snapped off at the corner with the tab. It hadn't been in the freezer, dishwasher or otherwise exposed to unusual temperatures. I realize these are economically priced, but I expect better quality from a brand like Rubbermaid, regardless of the price I am paying.

fun to use!

I was so excited to see rubbermaid carried larger sizes in takealong containers. I love to bake and they are just the perfect size for my homemade rolls and chocolate chip cookies. The colors are great also. The colors are what drew me and there was a bonus small round container when I bought mine. I will be purchasing these for my 2 daughters and daughter- in-law for Christmas presents. I also saw some great new items online.

Staining and food adhesion

I regularly use the 2.9 cups (669 ml) sandwich size container to take lunches to work - all kinds. I like the containers firm click lid, however, the bottom of the container has become gross and disgusting with the surface becoming stained and encrusted with food particles. We always wash the containers either in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand in the sink. It didn't matter as we can't get rid of this staining and food adhesion. Into the recycling they go after only 3 months. I'm not going to chase Rubbermaid for the cost of these containers but I may not buy their brand in the future. Disappointed

Below is a link to Use & Care for the TakeAlongs, and all other Rubbermaid food storage containers: http://www.rubbermaid.com/SupportCenter/Pages/UseCareInstructions.aspx To avoid pitting (a rough surface, typically white in appearance) of the containers, avoid reheating food high in salt, oil, fat, sugar, or tomato. Tomato-based foods can also cause staining in TakeAlongs. If staining is posing a problem with your containers, we suggest our Premier containers. These containers do resist such tomato-based stains.

TakeAlong Sets,Buyer beware!

I bought a TakeAlong Set at Sams Club, when I opened the box, I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the containers. They should be sold as disposable containers! The material is VERY THIN and I can't imagine them lasting more the 2 or 3 uses. They also look like they would crack very easily in a freezer. This isn't the Rubbermaid I used to know! I am returning them back to Sams Club today!

We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with our Take Along containers, however the Take Along's are considered a disposable container as they are only meant for a few uses and then can be disposed of. If you are interested in a container that allows for multiple uses and has a thicker durable plastic, you may wish to look into the Easy Find Lid or the Premier lines as these containers are not disposable.

Leaky leaky

I bought these to put fruit in and liked the twist lock so called leak proof lids. I put cereal in one and milk in the other. By the time I got to work half the milk had leaked out so now I have to use a plastic bag so it won't leak. I'm not very happy with this product at all

Makes a Leaky Mess

I first tried to put milk in the containter to bring to work for my cereal. Leaked all over, milk half gone. Then I tried blueberries, but even the little bit of juice from those managed to leak out. Now I use the cups by putting them in a plastic bag, what a waste of resources. I find it hard to believe the reviews that say it does not leak.

disappointed

I bought these in the new teal blue. I've used them about 3 weeks and one has cracked. They do not feel as thick as the clear ones I have from the past. They were perfect for my refrigerated oatmeal for breakfast. One just didn't last. I've hand washed them only.
