Disappointed Again

Difficult to active scale

It requires several attempts each morning to “wake up” the scale. Extremely annoying. Most time I have to bend over and lift the scale off the hard wood floor before it activates. Also, the screen diaplay is not crisp. Im left with the impression it has missed several generation of screen pixel advancements. I’m retuning it.

Weight is accurate but body fat% not so much

Happy that my weight was the same as my old scale but my body fat percentage was not even close. The S2 showed 33% fat whereas my most recent body fat percentage from hydrostatic weighing was 23%. I've done the hydrostatic weighing many times since college and have a pretty good idea what my percentage should be so I trust my hydrostatic weighing score over the S2. I do like that you can track and see trends.

Great potential features, but needs documentation

I have had this for about a month. I use it every morning and night. It needs to be accompanied by background and standards for the data it displays. ie: what levels should body muscle, bone, fat and water be! And.. what do changes signify. My Omron scale came with such a dicoument. Your scale should also!

Body fat measurement extremely inaccurate

I bought this to use in conjunction with my training program to track weight and body fat. The weight feature is fine but the body fat is very inaccurate. The scale weighs me at 133 for a 65” woman level 6 activity. My BMI measures at 22.1. Those seen to be accurate based on other means of measurement however the Index scale says my BMI is 36% which makes me obese. I am a distance runner but lowered my activity to 6 after reading other reviews about inaccurate body fat measurements. I’ve reset the device several times as well. Very disappointing that one of the main features I wanted this scale for does not work and it’s inaccuracy seems to be a very frequent issue for many users.

You have a socker field to make you product better

1. It's a not simple way to set up your Garmin Connect and Index S2. Not on the first try. 2. And not clear how to connect my wife to it. I resolved this issue but it took some time. 3. When I see my weight result in Garmin Connect I don't understand if those results are normal. Why not show max-min figures and a link to read about them?

The most expensive piece of JUNK

Since purchasing this scale, I have had nothing but headaches with it. It never turns on when I stand on it, I have to readjust it a few times every time in order for it just to TURN ON. When it finally DOES turn on, I get a wildly different reading almost every time. My other scale I used previously is still consistent so I guess I’m going back to that. I have a Garmin watch and LOVE it but this scale is a JOKE!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

I like how this provides more insight other than just weight itself. It also inputs data right into the Garmin app, which helps me keep track of fitness goals and levels. But one does need to be realistic and know that this will not give a true score of muscle and fat mass. That's where going and getting either a Dexa or Inbody scan will be most beneficial. Overall I love this scale and the information it provides.

Great to track your fitness goals

I absolutely love this. All Garmin gear in general are game changers to hit your fitness goals. The index is an absolute important piece to track how you are progressing. It allows you stay accountable and also adds motivation to continue pushing in your workouts. Love the stats it shows and the quality is top notch.

It wasn't what I expected from Garmin

I have had many Garmin gadgets, including GPSes, smart watches, etc., over the years. I have always been very pleased with the Garmin products I have purchased. This scale seemed like a good quality scale, with lots of nice features. And I liked that it would automatically transmit data to the Garmin Connect app. However, I had too many problems with it. The first time I tried to set it up, I followed the instructions and went through all the steps. However, it just wouldn't work. I finally got frustrated with it and gave up for the night. The next morning, I went back to play with it some more, and found that it was now working. Apparently, it needed to be connected to the Internet for some time before it would start working. Maybe it had to do some software update or something? Unfortunately, there was no indication of why it took so long to finally start working. After that, it worked great for a few days. Then it got stuck in a state where, when I stood on the scale, the weight reading just kept moving up and down, as if I was not standing still. At first, I thought it was me being a little wobbly first thing in the morning. But, no matter how still I stood, the weight kept going up and down and would never stabilize. And it was like 20 or 30 lbs. up and down, not just a little unstable. I finally decided to reset the scale, set it up all over again, etc. Then it started working again for a day or two. Then, one morning, I tried to weigh myself, but all it would do is show an hourglass icon. I waited a few minutes for the hourglass to go away, but it didn't. At this point, I was so frustrated with the problems that I decided to return the scale. There was nothing wrong with my old scale. And it was a lot easier to just weight myself and then enter the information manually in the Connect app.
