1st Scale

This is my first scale so I have nothing to compare it to. Very easy setup with the Garmin Connect app. It also communicates very quickly with the app. This gives me a good idea of where I'm heading with my weight & other metrics. I have been weighing myself at night & in the morning to stay consistent with my weigh ins. I feel like it's built decently enough & does look nice. It may be overpriced but it does fit in with the Garmin ecosystem very easy.

Love the Sync with Garmin Connect

I received the Garmin S2 Smart Scale as a Christmas Present. It was easy to set up and integrate with Garmin Connect. It is accurate and provides essential data to gauge improvement in fitness. It is easy to access current data from the scale on Garmin Connect. Historical data is also readily available. One minor issue is that the scale does not always register all the data on the first weigh-in, That might be a function of my feet being too dry. But that is my only complaint.

Faulty out of the box

After receiving the scale I followed the instruction for the battery installation and setup. The scale display just started flashing on and off. I removed the batteries and reinstalled them without any luck. I even bought a new set of batteries and it did not solve my problem. The Garmin website had no solution for the problem. I even tried to find solutions in numerous online forums. It seems this is a common problem with this item. I can’t believe Garmin would put their name on a substandard item like this.

Great device - struggle with multiple users

I purchased this scale with the intent of using it for my whole family. I have my wife and I both on our own connect apps but I cannot connect my wife’s account to the scale. The scale itself is great and love the features. I use it every morning. It’s great to see the changes and get an update on the weather too.

Nice design and features

Purchased this because I needed to measure my fat, muscle, bone and water percentages. This helps me manage my workouts at the gym to make sure I'm targeting the right areas. Like the integration with Connect and seeing my progress over time. Also the fact that my wife who uses Garmin as well can be a user.

Rocky start, but doing great now!

I bought the S2 scale in 2025 to replace a standard scale that my wife and I had been complaining about for a number of years. I was excited to have this S2 communicate with our garmin connect (both wife and I use garmin watches and use connect). Out of the box, this scale (we bought black) was beautifully designed. Looked great in our bathroom, and kind of reflected the light blue on our walls, so it looks cool, and we were very happy with that. Set up seemed easy with the connect app that we were already used to. I did the set up, then invited my wife to the scale via connect app. Wife accepted the invite and followed the set up on her connect app. She then showed up on my list of users to the S2 in my connect. When I weighed in, no issue. My initials showed up as expected. Wife weighed in, and there was no initials, nor did the weight upload to connect. We tried to tap through the list of users, but the S2 didn't do anything when tapped. On that note, the scale doesn't easily wake up by tapping. I found that moving the scale on the floor so it vibrates immediately wakes it up. I even accidentally woke it up when my foot slipped on the floor a few feet away from the scale and caused vibration. However, when I try to tap (hard) I get nothing. I now just stand on it for a second and hop off, then it turns on. With my wife's weight not being recorded on connect, I knew something was not right about the set up. I removed her from the scale users on my connect and tried over. No luck. I even went through the reset process and changed batteries, but no results. I did that a few times, then finally thought I'd try the following... 1) I took my wife's garmin watch, my garmin watch, and both of our phones into the bathroom near the scale. I figured, maybe with bluetooth set up, proximity would help. 2) With my wife removed as a user, I reinvited her to the S2 on my connect app and used her phone to accept and set her up on her connect app. I got on the scale to make sure it was awake and noticed that it had an icon of the scale and the connect app on the screen. This was the first time I had seen that icon process occur on the S2. I waited for that to finish, weighed myself (with no issues as usual), then had my wife get naked and weigh in (she didn't need to be naked, but I told her it was important for the scale to work, lol). Bingo, her initials popped up after weigh in, and it uploaded to her connect app. We've had zero issues since and the scale is awesome. I don't know if the other measurements (like body fat, etc.) are accurate or not, but if they are like most of these devices, S2 is probably at least directionally consistent, so I think I could count on it showing the right percentage decreases/increases. Been very happy with this scale once we got through the bumps of getting the scale to set up properly. I read other reviews and saw that others have had this same issue. Maybe there was something to having all my devices near the scale during set up.

Not impressed

I was so excited to get this and pair it with my watch and the app. It paired fine for me, and I was able to read all my data. However, I wanted my husband to also use the scale, but after an hour of trying, we could not get it to pair with his phone's app. I even unpaired and repaired the device from my phone.....nothing helped...we tried everything including the troubleshooting in the manual online. The instructions say to tap the scale to "turn on"....this took usually 8 or 9 taps. I tried installing the risers (even though they are for use on carpet, and it worked better BUT was dangerously slippery on my tile). So, after all the frustration, I boxed it up and sent it back.

Great scale - thought I'd miss my 1st Gen

My 1st gen Garmin scale lasted YEARS! Love the color screen, and the fact that the 2nd gen has a bigger screen and smaller footprint. It seems like you have to do something different to turn it on. With the 1st gen, you just tap it and wait for it to zero. Not sure what I'm doing wrong with my 2nd gen.

Good for weight, other metrics are unreliable

I bought this to replace an old index that died. I think the weight is a little more precise than gen 1. Accuracy is good enough. The non-weight metrics (bodyfat, water, muscle, and bone) are just derived from height and weight. They should either not be included or you should have the option to turn them off. The scale is way overpriced for just weight, but it is easy to integrate with the connect app.
