Purchased this soundbar about a month ago and all was good at first until the rear speakers started cutting out. Did some research and the only resolution I could find was a firmware update from Vizio, and after the uodate the rear speakers are still cutting out. After more research you'll find that this is a very common issue that Vizio is aware of but has no fix for. The only reason I would say 2 stars is that when the sounds works it sounds great, but when the rear speakers cut out every 10 seconds it completely ruins the experience of what you're watching or playing. Just boxed up this piece of junk and hope that Sam's will accept the return so I can use the money towards a better system.

I bought this a week ago - coming from a 10 year old sound bar with a wireless 12 inch bass to this i was skeptical at first - but not anymore. This little base and amazing soundbar will rattle the windows! Very surprised! Also very surprised at what a difference up firing speakers make to a movie experience! I'm very impressed Vizio!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Vizio is a brand that came out of nowhere to me, but is producing some fantastic electronics, and seems to be taking over the game. So when I had the opportunity to get my hands on the Vizio M-Series™ 5.1 Home Theater Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X, I absolutely jumped, hoping that it would bring sound to the forefront of my home. After using it for a few weeks, I have to say, that I am a huge fan, and am even more impressed with what they are designing. It came well packaged and in pristine condition. While awkwardly shaped, they did their best to keep every component safe for shipment, a testament to their standards. The instructions were simple to understand, and set up is quite intuitive. I’ve never used the HDMI ARC before, but the guide told me it was the vest option, so I reconfigured the cords at the back of my television and I was in business, no fuss, no muss. I didn’t snap a pic before installing, which I regret, because one of my favorite features of the sound bar is that the inputs are not perpendicular to the device (as are most), but rather run parallel, so that the sound bar can be pushed back flush without straining the base of the cords. This is a fantastic design which sets it apart from competitors. The control is comfortable in the hand, and has a digital readout informing you which function it is currently performing. Too, I appreciate that it tells you audibly what it is doing. For example, when connecting to Bluetooth it lets you know it’s searching, and connected, with a voice from the speakers. The cords for the auxiliary surround sound speakers are color coded and extremely long, so that it’s both dummy proof and simple to get them in optimal position in your room. The wireless subwoofer, to which the surround speakers are connected, looks simple and clean, and produced deep, full sound. I’ve attached a pic of a standard soda can for reference to size, as I’m a visual learner, but the sound bar itself isn’t particularly large. That said, it produces rich, clear sound at a very great volume. I am completely satisfied with the output, and find the sound whether we are watching a movie, or steaming music, to be outstanding. There is an equalizer function, though mine sounded perfect straight out of the box. My only very minor complaint (and to be fair this might be a failing of my television, or a setting I haven’t yet found) is that when I have been using the sound bar on the television, then, leaving the tv on I switch to Bluetooth to stream music from my phone, if I turn the tv off after, it turns off the sound bar as well. Not a big deal at all, but rather an annoyance. Aside from that I feel that Vizio is cementing themselves at the top of the sound bar game, and I for one am overjoyed with this product. Very highly recommend!

I never realized how much a sound system could totally change my entire TV experience!!! I have sound-bar mounted to wall with subwoofer at TV area and the two rear speakers mounted on the ceiling behind the couch. Couldn't be happier with this purchase and the performance of the system!

Budget friendly and quality soundbar. Good surround sound effects (dolby, dolby atmos)and also dual sound mode is good for music and movies especially for dialog delivery. Surround speakers stopped working after 8 months and waiting for the replacement. hope sound glitch issue also won't be there on replacement unit

At my age, my hearing is not great. Once I replaced my high-end stereo receiver and speakers with this soundbar, I was able to hear the dialogue much easier. Some networks like to play background music too loud to hear the dialogue, but I was able to turn down the music portion. The wife and I love this, so we bought another for the TV in my family room.

I was looking to upgrade to from my soundbar which sounded good. But I knew that I could be experiencing better. I took my time and looked at multiple reviews and all signs kept pointing to the Vizio M512a-H6. It was at a great price point and when I came across a black Friday deal, I couldn't pass the opportunity. I have to say that this soundbar is amazing. Not only does it look great, but it sounds AMAZING! It has all the latest Dolby sounds including Atmos. The sound coming from the speakers come in crystal clear. The bass is deep. And the best part, it truly has the surround sound feel thanks to the 2 satellite speakers. I wanted a truly immersive experience when I watch a movie and the 512a-H6 provides that. I cannot recommend this product enough!

If I'd have know this sound bar and system was so good, I'd have bought it sooner. I've been researching and looking at sound bar systems for quite some time but hadn't made the purchase. Our TV movie and show sound experience has improved 1000%. Previously we had issues with voice not being loud enough, and with the adjustments available and rear speakers -- our audio has gone to a new level! The sub is much better than I expected as well. Kudos to the Visio engineers! Thank you for making such a great product at an affordable price point.

I feel like a robbed Vizio. I can't believe how good this sounds for the price I paid. From cutting open the box to fully set-up took only about 30 minutes. All of the cables were long enough and the instructions were clear. Out-of-the-box, the sound made me giggle like a school girl. a 1000% improvement from the old soundbar. Then I spent another hour or so tweaking the sound and familiarizing myself with all the ways I could customize the sound for my space. I work in audio. I was able to get the soundbar dialed in to where I am completely happy. Even at low levels the audio is full. And because we live in a Multi-unit house, being able to hear when the level was low, was something my old soundbar could not accomplish, but this one is wonderful. Dialogue is crisp and present. And the excitement of watching movies has increased exponentially. And at full volume, the neighbors down the block can hear me. I was especially pleased with the ability to customize the levels of the Rear and Center speakers. The Dialogue Level is a simple way to increase the punhc of high-mids. If I had one complaint, I would have liked at least a 15 band EQ. As it is now, between the BASS, TREBLE, DIALAOGUE and SUB level, I have about 5 bands of EQ I can control. Plus what is on the TV. So in summation, is this the best sounding system that is out there? No...BUT! At this price point...it beats the competition. This is bringing a Missle Launcher to a Knife Fight.

After approximately one week of use the sound bar would not power on. I tried the options provided on the Vizio website to reset the sound bar but to no avail. Ended up chatting with customer service who offered a refund (no compatible bars were available to exchange).
