Hopefully optimistic

I've had this sound bar for a few weeks and so far I've really enjoyed it. It took a bit to get the settings worked out with my tv but after that the sound has been great. One concern is some knocking in the subwoofer with certain bass noises. It doesn't happen too often, I just hope nothing is faulty.

Good, but too many issues.

I bought the soundbar a few days ago; easy set-up. Problem I am having is installing the latest update with the USB drive, since, apparently, this sound bar does not support WIFI connection. Have tried several times through the app, will not find the sound bar. Other than that issue, it's a pretty good item.

The Home Theater Sound We Deserve!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let's face it; the last year has been difficult in more ways than one. Not the least of which is the closure of so many of our favorite hometown movie theaters. I for one always enjoyed piling the family into the car, and going to catch a flick on a Friday night (even if I did have to pay way too much for popcorn and candy). But now, that’s all a distant memory. Movies are delivered directly to streaming services these days. And with the prospect of theaters ever opening fully again seeming less likely by the day, people like me are left searching for alternatives. VIZIO provides a lot of great options in that regard, to help turn your living room or family room into a fully functioning home theater. Even though they have lots of great television options, sound quality should never be overlooked. That's where the VIZIO M-Series 5.1.2 Channel Sound Bar comes in. 4K movies have become all the rage, there is a certain level of immersion that only Dolby DTS surround sound can provide. One of the unique things about the design of the M512a-H6, is the up firing speakers. Much in the way interior decorators use light to illuminate an entire room with a single bulb (by bouncing it off nearby surfaces), VIZIO has designed the M512a-H6 in a similar fashion. The audio travels upwards, hitting your ceiling, and raining it down around you to envelop you in a bubble of pristine, crystal clear sound. The subwoofer provides the deep, low resonance that you would expect from a chair-churning theater experience. But my favorite speaker of the entire family is the center bar. I can't tell you how much I hate having to turn the volume up and down, when the dialogue is too low or the action sequences are too loud. The M512’s center bar provides a perfect balance, keeping the vocals exactly where they need to be while ensuring we don't miss a single action packed explosion. Finally, the wireless functionality is always an added bonus. I personally don't mind running wires around the walls, behind baseboards and under carpet if I need to. But the Bluetooth does make set up a real dream. Unboxing a new speaker system will no longer be a chore, as VIZIO has always been forward-thinking regarding their installation and keeping up with all of the wireless trends. I'm eager to see where they go from here, not just on this front, but with their entire line of home entertainment electronics. I can't wait for the next opportunity!

Above average

Quality sound most of the time. Bought the M series 5 channel and was disappointed that there is no easy way to add additional speakers. Love the option to turn up the dialog making it easy to amplify voices. High frequency tones in movies frequently crackle despite quality of input.

Excellent all around Sound bar system 5.1.2

Love My new sound bar system super loud it goes all the way to 100 volume..I only have at 10 12..Make sure when you connect to is all the way inserted I'm using Hdmi cable at first no sound till finally began to pushing in hdmi cable more that did it wasn't connected al the way in..Also when Finally on it was working but my satelite speakers I could barely hear them.. sound was coming out but barely getting that full surround sound experience..I was going through all my settings on remote..saw a setting dual surround set it to that..boom my satelite speakers are banging now. It sounds so awesome now. Everything well balanced soundbar sounds great perfectly even with satelite speakers..Voice sounds very clear loud..highly recommend this sound bar system.. you will not regret purchase.. love mine

Rocks the top off!

Anything we can throw at it it just over-performs. Clear dialogue, great lows , clear highs and the option of having consistent volume makes it seem like you are part of the film without having to turn it up and down like I used to with a previous sound bar. I don’t think I can get much better for this price range. 5/5

Great when it works!

Soundbar sounds really good (when it decides to go output sound). Sound coming in through HDMI in works most of the time, eARC will work half of the time. TV detects the soundbar, soundbar turns on, but no sound output half of the time; to fix it I have to turn off/on unplug/plug in multiple times and sometimes it will start working (and continue working for a while until it decides to stop working again).

Old firmware

I bought this system and couldn't wait to get it home and set up. Initially I was very impressed with the great sound. Then I noticed the rear speakers cutting in and out. After an online chat session, I have been told my system needs a firmware upgrade. While this is a big issue the fact that it requires a thump drive to load the upgrade on and then that plugged into the sound bar seems like old technology. I would think a USB cable to transfer data is something R&D could figure out how to make work. My household has many USB cable but not a single thumb drive. If a thumb drive is the only means of firmware upgrades I would suggest including one in the box.

Hello CDGodfather, thank you for taking time to leave us your feedback today. When a sound bar is manufactured, it will be loaded with the most up to date firmware available at the time. Typically firmware updates are released after the sound bar has been manufactured. The ability for a sound bar to connect to a internet connection is a feature that is available on some models of sound bars, but not all. A sound bar that is not able to connect to a network will need to be updated with a USB drive.
