The perfect roast for a robust and flavorful cuppa! I roasted my own coffee beans for many years, a process that I had to do outside because our smoke alarms in the house would go off every time. However, roasting beans outside in the cold winter months is quite the challenge, so my results were never consistent. Then I read that someone else had the same issues as me, had discovered Major Dickason's Blend, and had tossed all of their coffee roasting gear – because they couldn't improve upon Peet's results. So I tried Major Dickason's Blend… and it was the same for me. Fantastic coffee!

I've been drinking this wonderfully balanced blend of coffee for over a year now. It's totally satisfying in three major sensory areas; smell, tastes, seeing. Never has a coffee 's taste lived up to its aroma for me before this blend. Another wonderful fact is that I can brew it strong like I love my coffee and it won't upset my stomach. Previously I would have to switch coffee brands because my stomach would start resisting my consumption of it. This has not happened with this blend. I love the rich dark color of the coffee. Another characteristic if have notice is that even if I drink it very strong I don't get the same jittery feeling as with other strong coffee. I'm so thankful Mr. Peet left us with this legacy. May you never discontinue the Major Dickason's Blend.

I did a side-by-side comparison w/ these beans (Major D blend). I had my freshly roasted beans sent from Peet's to my doorstep and my sister's store-bought beans in a 2 lb bag. I love Peet's subscriptions. Sadly, I couldn't convince her to switch to ordering fresh beans. The Major D beans that I ordered made coffee that was either kind of bitter or sour, depending on how we ground them. We tried several times over several days using a very good grinder & a good drip machine. We tried lots of settings.The Major D beans from the store seemed less fussy, easier to work with … and they tasted fine. The coffee we made using fresh beans wasn't good until it cooled down. Then it was smooth, very nuanced, flavorful. Sorry Peet's. I'm still trying to find a grind level / water amount that works.

I have to say this is the best cup of coffee I have ever made myself. My girlfriend wanted to get me a special coffee for Christmas this year so I asked my Uncle for recommendations since he does have great taste (he is also a former coffee shop owner in Pullman) and this is what he pointed me to. I will explain how I made it personally that I recommend highly if this is your preference - For a small batch I used 3 cups of water brought to a boil in my old enamel coffee pot then removed from heat for the remainder. After 30 seconds I stirred in exactly one third of a cup of Major Dickason's grounds strait in then let it sit for 2 minutes, stirred again allowing it to sit for another 2 minutes. After that I add a little bit of cold water to settle the grounds and pour immediately into my cup. The result was a silky smooth yet robust cup of coffee with a fantastic flavor (I would almost say a mild chocolate?) that truly left me impressed. I honestly cannot see myself buying anything else after this, if you haven't tried it I promise this is great. I also promised I was not paid to write or try this, I have never had this brand before today and I believe great products deserve great recognition so I wanted to contribute.

I just wanted to say this coffee meant so much to me that this company now has my everlasting support, and I'll be purchasing more products from them soon but with all the options it's hard to choose just a few! First of all, when I picked up this bag in Walmart just to read the label, the smell from me shuffling the beans just with my grasp on the bag was so strong it permeated through my mask!!! That's all I needed to decide. I took it home and it did not disappoint. In fact, I don't know why it doesn't say anything on the label because I feel this could be a major selling point, but this bean type NOTICEABLY has at least double the amount of caffeine per portion than any other coffee I have ever had. My roommates and I are no strangers to caffeine what with us being young, in college, and working individuals, so if anything we are even a bit desensitized to caffeine in general. I asked my roommate who drinks about 8 shots of coffee most days to validate my theory and she was amazed at how it made her feel! I'm a bit more sensitive to caffeine so I had to do half decaf and half of this bean in my shots so I could still have 2 or 3 lattes a day, so now I'm considering buying the decaf version of this bean now that I see they sell it on this site! I think it would be perfect because I could use it in the day with the regular bean and midday/night when I have a craving for coffee but don't want to be up until 3AM! Anyways, I'm not usually one for reviews, but I genuinely never want this company to ever go under or to stop producing this type of bean. With their variety though, I may even replace this favorite with another type of their darks as I try more haha! Peet's, DONT STOP DOIN WHAT YOURE DOIN

Recently tried a bag of Major Dickason's Blend as I kept hearing about it in several coffee forums and coffee articles. We were in search of a new daily brew after using another coffee bean every day for the past ten years. Major Dickason's Blend did not disappoint and we have found our new daily brew. Dear Peet's I'm not a coffee pro by any means but i love move dark roast coffee i love coffee very strong and dark and searched on line to find the darkest strongest coffee i could and nothing compared to Peet's MAJOR DICKASON'S BLEND thank you for making the best flavored coffee ever

Peet's Coffee was a client of mine until the late 80s back when I lived in San Francisco. Moved to Seattle but because of a non-compete with "another" company, also a client, it wasn't available up here at the time. Though a huge coffee fan I never tried it even after the agreement ended. A few weeks ago Major Dickinson's Blend was recommended and I'm a huge fan! French Press first thing every day then again mid-morning makes for the begging of a great day!

We have been loyal customers for years. Love your coffee. We are on a fixed income and are always looking to save money. Today my wife was looking on Amazon prime and found they were much cheeper than ordering directly from Peets plus the shipping is free and free next day delivery. Hopefully the freshness won't suffer too much.

We drank the Louisiana standard - Community Dark Roast for decades. Then, suddenly, it didn't taste the same anymore. It started to taste ordinary and stale, so we went on the hunt for a new coffee as good as that one used to be. Fortunately, my sister introduced me to Peets Major Dickason. My husband and I are happy again. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
