Great Generator

I ordered this Generator June 1, 2020. The Generator was on back order so it was delivered today October 30, 2020. That is a 5 month wait. I was not happy about this. Once the generator did show up I unpacked it and followed the installation and start up procedures. Everything was simple and straightforward. Started the generator up on propane, engine started right up with no problems. Ran quiet and remote start and stop worked great. Also tried out the elect start and the pull start both worked great. I almost cancelled my order but glad I didn’t as I believe this generator will serve my purposes as I originally thought. Maybe the Covid 19 has held up the production of this unit?

IG4500DFC

decided to purchase the Westinghouse iGen4500DF inverter generator. My first impression upon receipt was the packaging it came in. Though the box was a bit roughed up due to shipping, none of the contents were damaged. The box is made of sturdy cardboard and the styrofoam packing is of good quality - not the usual flimsy stuff that comes from China. The company did it's job to ensure it's product gets to the customer in good shape. After unboxing and reading the user manual, I added oil, connected the battery and added gasoline. I only use premium gasoline without ethanol for all my small engines. Note that a handy oil funnel comes with the unit along with oil and enough small tools to perform the usual maintenance tasks like changing the spark plug or air cleaner. I thought this was a very nice touch. Careful when adding the oil, it can be easily overfilled. Just go slow and check the level often as you fill. I then double-checked the startup procedure, and pressed the start button. It started on the first try. I let it run for a few minutes and shut it down. I then tried the remote start. Again, it started on the first try. I ran the unit on and off for the next hour just playing with it and checking things over. So far, it has started on the first try every time no matter which method I used. I'll take it as a very good sign. The generator is made with good quality plastics and metal. Nothing that I have touched or handled feels cheap or flimsy. The telescoping handle works well and is sturdy. I was able to extend the handle and move the unit with one arm while in the garage - just to see if I could. The unit rolls well and is easy to maneuver; however, I do not expect this to be the case while in the woods, but I think I'll be able to place it where I want it without too much trouble. It is also nice to know that If the generator is connected to a propane tank, you can switch from using gasoline to propane on the fly and vice versa. I like this flexibility! This generator is very similar to the Cummins Onan P4500DF Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator.

Works great.

We purchased this generator for our camping trips and for using around the house for projects or when the electricity goes out. I took it out of the box, filled it up with oil and ran it on propane and it started up the first time. I love the remote start. The weight of it isn't to bad for me loading it into the back of the pickup, but my wife said if she had to load it, she would need help. It runs quiet and is much quieter than other generators that were running in the campground. Great product and would recommend.

Dual fuel is great

iGen4500DF purchased June 2021. It's great being able to run on propane, I prefer carrying an extra propane tank rather than gasoline. As a side bonus, the exhaust smell on propane is much less unpleasant than when running on gasoline. Switching between gas and propane is seamless. As expected based on the power rating, no problems starting/running 13.5k BTU a/c. I also own a Yamaha EF3000iSEB. The Westinghouse is about 50lbs lighter and is much easier to move with the pull-out handle. Both generators show the same noise spectrum within a couple of dB (simple phone app), but my ears say the Yamaha has a 'smoother' sound while the Westinghouse has more of an engine 'puttering' sound. Although I prefer the Yamaha noise, the propane capability and lighter weight of the Westinghouse is worth it to me. HOWEVER, I did have the widespread problem where the automatic choke connector was not snapped into the control board. It's just bizzare how they can't get this under control after it's been going on for so long. Annoying but not hard to correct.

Just what i was looking for!

I bought this to help power my adventures camping with my 5th wheel. While I can't power everything, the power this little guy puts out is sufficient to charge my batteries and run 1 A/C unit, Microwave, Coffee Maker.. etc. It is amazingly quiet and started right up first try, after following the quick start directions. Love the fact it runs on LP, now I don't have to worry about stale gas, or draining before longs trips. So far I'm super happy with the iGen4500DF!

so far so good

Looks good so far. Fired right up on both gas and propane. I'm in process of running through break in period. Very easy to move around. The battery was a little tricky to get hooked up; need someone with small hands to get it into its place. Somewhat noisier than I'd hoped; I measure about 68dB at 25ft, but that's on a concrete patio with house on 2 sides, so probably not too bad. I'll normally run at 35 feet or so and expect noise to be not bad at all. The wireless start will be great for night time control.

Quality construction

I was totally surprised how easy it was to set this generator up.The set-up directions are clear and easy to under stand. After preparing it for operating with gasoline I was still concerned but a few seconds after i hit the auto button it was purring like a kitten. It is TOPS in quality of Construction, Operation and Appearance.

1st iGen4500DF Runs Great on Gasoline - Purchased

I bought my 1st iGen4500 in January 2021. The generator runs very quietly and provides enough power for our travel trailer. The only issue that I have is that I can’t get the generator to run on propane even after I ensured that the system was purged of all gasoline and the selector switch was set appropriately. Today was the first time I attempted to run the generator on propane with no success. I went through the troubleshooting procedures several times with no success, but I switched back to gasoline and it runs fine. Today (2/19/2022) I have contacted Westinghouse to find out how this issue can be resolved along with the current recall that I just found out about. Hopefully Westinghouse’s customer service is good and we can get everything taken care of. I would love to provide a update to my review after we get these issues resolved. I have faith that they will make things right. Don’t get me wrong, I believe this is an excellent generator that runs very quietly even with the issues that I am currently experiencing. I liked it so much, I purchased a second one last week along with a parallel cable so I can use the generators together during a power outage. I would recommend this generator to anyone. I have started our second iGen4500DF for the first time today using propane and it runs great.

Great Generator

I am thrilled to share my positive experience with the Westinghouse iGen4500DF Dual Fuel Generator. As someone who values reliability, performance, and versatility, this generator has truly exceeded my expectations on all fronts. From the moment I unpacked the iGen4500DF, its build quality and attention to detail were evident. The sturdy construction and thoughtful design elements instilled confidence that this generator was designed to last. But it's the performance that truly sets this generator apart. The dual fuel capability is an absolute game-changer. Being able to switch between gasoline and propane as fuel sources offers incredible flexibility. Whether dealing with a power outage, camping trip, or any situation where electricity is needed, having this choice ensures peace of mind. The transition between fuels is seamless, and the generator runs smoothly on both options.

quit but not a dual fuel yet

Installed the unit and get reasonable performance on gas the on propane the unit does not run well and has poor output regulation. Further the starter battery will not hold a charge or the standby battery light does pulls to much power to be in standby for more than a couple hours. There is no reason to have remote start if you have to walk over to the unit to manage the batter switch. Started work with customer service on these issues after 10 minutes on hold I was told they would call me back. We will see......
