IGen 5000DFc

Bought this for a home back up power source. After unboxing it I added oil connected battery and propane. It fired up first try. Ran it for a couple hours testing at different loads. Ran furnace, fridge, fireplace, 2 tv’s and several lights. No issues.that was a little over 25% load capacity.

Generator

I bought 2 months ago and just got it out of the shop. It ran for ten minutes on propane I turned it off with the remote and then I couldn't get it to start again. It would run on gasoline but would always stop when changing over to Propane. I dropped it off at the shop Westinghouse told me to. When I picked it up they said nothing was wrong with it. Now I just had may first 2hrs of trying to break it in. With me luck.

Quiet an Very well made

We have been waiting to upgrade our FullTime Generator for our cabin. This generator is what we've been waiting for! Dual Fuel, Inverter, remote start and adequate to power all household things! And, it's quieter than outlr smaller Honda! This is a great generator!

Quiet

This generator is as quiet as my smaller 2200 inverter generator. Started right up with auto start or remote. The fuel gauge and remaining run time meter did not work properly on first start with less than gallon of fuel. When I filled it to half tank the guages worked fine.

Good product but needs some improvements

I bought an iGen5000DFc (why is it also referred to as iGen4500Dfc?) about two weeks ago and all I have done with it so far is ran the break-in period for about seven hours and changed the oil after the initial oil fill. The unit appeared to have had a hard drop during shipping. Both the upper and lower styrofoam packing was broken and both access panels were popped open. There was a hole in the shipping box and the battery strap is missing. The User Manual is vague and in some cases misleading regarding the operation of the unit. There is a great deal of warning information but operating and maintenance information took reading and rereading and visits to Youtube to figure out. There is very limited information regarding the Data Center but I eventually figured out most of it on my own. My biggest problem was with the small sizes of the two access panels. After skinning up my hands plugging in the battery and searching for the still missing battery strap I went to the oil access panel and used the screw in funnel that was provided for the initial oil fill which worked out good. After the five hour recommended break-in period I wanted to change the oil which I do on all my new engines. This was a problem. The block drain fitting does not line up with the access panel but after some finesse and more skinned knuckles I drained the oil. Putting the fitting back in was another problem but with a combination of wrenches, sockets and duct tape got the job done. I suggest having your engineering designers take a look at this issue as I expect it to be a problem for many unless they have access to some special wrenches and small dexterous hands. Please send out a battery strap! My contact information is with the Product Registration.

Excellent Inverter Generator - Dual Fuel

Been waiting a year to find someone who has in stock. Really wanted the dual fuel for convenience (always have a propane tank or can get one easily). Preferred the smaller inverter model for clean power but enough juice to power critical needs. Initial make-ready was simple. Suggestion - place on top of your workbench to make it easier! Electric start is great! Started the first time and ran smooth. I think this will be a nice back up for when we lose power.

so far so good

It took 3 tries to get one I could keep but I finally have one that looks and runs good. I have only tried it for test purposes so far. I will only run this on propane. It started right up. When loaded up with big draw items, it didn't hesitate to increase power. It is a bit louder that I anticipated but still much quieter than most on the market. This is for emergency use only so hopefully I don't have to use it too much.

Perfect for our trailer and more!

We bought this generator in order to go boondocking in our new travel trailer, diy projects at home and for power outages. Thus far, our main use has been traveling and we love how it uses propane or gasoline. We use it for hours and the propane level hardly moves. We are looking forward to many years of use with this little beauty!

So far so good

We purchased this unit to power our RV/Ice Fishing House combo with a 30 amp outlet. I was really excited to find a unit that ran on both gas / propane AND had a remote start for the cold mornings out on the ice! So far, I've put about 5 hours on the unit during the break-in procedure (so note -- there is a break in process -- read the directions!). Unit starts easily with electric starter, chain pull, or via remote and powers my RV/Ice House without issue (AC, microwave, TV, etc at same time). Switching from gas to propane is simple and can be done without shutting the unit down (if you already have propane connected). I didn't notice any change in performance switching across fuels. I've never owned a generator before, but the noise isn't overbearing and is barely audible when inside the RV. I docked 1 star for two annoyances. First, I only put in about a gallon of gas at a time as I wanted to run out the gas during break-in. Even though the unit comes with a digital fel gauge, it seemed to have a hard time registering that small - but sufficient - amount of full and showed me on "E" with no time remaining yet the unit kept running and running and running. Will see if issue persists if I actually fill it full. Second, changing the oil is a bit of a pain. First off, the unit comes empty but does include a bottle of basic SAE 30. I utilized the included oil for break-in and with a plan to switch over to synthetic 5w-30 for better cold temp performance (which is fine/recommended per the manual). The directions state that the entire bottle of the included oil should be used on the initial fill, but I found that I slightly overfilled the well trying to use up the whole bottle. There is a small plastic plug in the bottom of the unit you can use to drain back out some of the oil, but this is really just for spills and overflow and is still hard to access, leaving oil over some of the interior. After running for the 5 hours, I switched the oil -- and this is the real annoyance -- there is no separate oil drain. You have to try to hold the included funnel OVER the oil well and then tip it back out. Even being careful, it's awkward to hold the funnel over the top while balancing a 100 lb generator on it's sides -- despite my best efforts, more oil managed to spill, again leaving more oil in the interior compartment. There are numerous "nooks and crannies" in there, so it's virtually impossible to wipe up all the oil. So through the first 5 hours, performance seems great and exactly what I wanted and dual fuel flexibility is great as I'd rather carry an extra propane tank than have have gas tank slushing around. Only complaint is oil changing process. Would buy again!
