Reviews were hit and miss for the 4500i. But it is really impressed me. Remote start is a life saver! Surprisingly quiet which was really nice. With it being all enclosed it can sometimes be a pain to due regular maintenance due to lack of space. Oil changes spark plugs etc. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU ARE CLOSE TO AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR PERSON BEFORE PURCHASING!!! There are not any major city’s of Kentucky. Closest one to me is 1.5hrs away. Also difficult to find parts I assume it’s kept all in house. Other than that overall impressed.

Love this product line. I bought an iGen2200 couple years ago for tent camping and portable power around my property. Bought a Travel Trailer last year so purchased the iGen5000 to power my 30amp camper and it does everything I need it to. One of the quieter units in the campground as well

I purchased my Westinghouse Igen4500DF due to the regular power outages we experienced in our neighborhood. I took a few weeks to reviews a ton of reviews and always found this model to be in the top rated. Its quiet and easy to use. One of my favorite features is the stowaway handle for ease of moving. Thank you Westinghouse for making a great product!

Just purchased the iGen4500DF after much consideration. Will be used for boondocking with a 30amp travel trailer and also for replacing an older emergency backup generator for my home. It’s a bit heavy for lifting into the back of my truck, so I’ll need to figure out a way to transport/move it, but I purchased this one because it will handle both of the purposes I intend to use it for. I connected it to my travel trailer and ran it on propane for two hours, varying the load with a/c, refrigerator and lights as a break in run. The only things I’ve seen so far that I would prefer to be different are (1) a better way of draining the engine oil, and (2) a toggle style main circuit breaker to allow connecting or disconnecting the plugs with the unit running and no power output to the receptacles.

I have only had this iGen4500DF inverter generator for 2 days and have only run it for 30 minutes on propane only. It functions very well and has powered several household items and tools with no problem at all. I have not used it with gasoline so I can not comment on that. I love the remote feature and will use it extensively when camping. It seems like a very well built unit. I also like the built in wheels and extension handle for transporting it, very convenient.

I just got this generator for camping where there is no power like a music festival. I had hoped this would be quiet enough that it would allow for minimal noise while trying to sleep with the pop out ends of of hybrid travel trailer out. I’m not sure that will be the case. Don’t get me wrong it’s quiet and when I’m in the camper with the ends folded in, the generator running about ten feet away and the ac blower running in the camper, you don’t really hear it running, however I think with the canvas ends out, we unfortunately, probably will hear it running plain as day. So it’s definitely not a quiet as I would like. Outside of that it is well built. Feels sturdy with not cheap plastic. The pull handle is nice but you can’t tilt the generator back at all without the risk of spilling gas/oil so it’s not meant for long distance moving. I’d have two people one on each handle for movement. The dimensions of the generator at 17” at the base (wheel to wheel), about 19” tall from the ground and about 26 long from the wheel to the front. Use this information when you are looking for something to store the generator in. So far I have put it through the break in period and changed the oil. I bought a two way siphon pump because the oil drain plug makes a mess (saw this in other reviews and videos online). This made getting the oil out very easy. I then found a .6L bottle that I refill from a larger bottle so I know I can just dump the bottle in. This makes each change a little quicker, less wasted oil and helps eliminate opportunities to spill from over fill. I love the digital read out area. No questions about how much fuel is left, how much run time left on the remaining fuel, how much power you are using, time run for maintenance purposes and voltage being produced to prevent damaging anything. I did plug my rv surge protector in which has a diagnostic light and indicating there is no ground?? Perhaps this generator is not bonded?? For now I have the camper plugged directly into the generator as I believe the generator is regulating the power coming out and there a surge protector is not needed. I’d like some further explanation about this from Westinghouse but it seems to maintain solid voltage around 124. Running the generator and my camper RV today in the 94* NC heat. Will monitor voltage during the course of operation. But the gauges and info the five are awesome! I see the failure point on this generator being the pull start so I would encourage anyone looking at them to pony up, don’t be cheap like I was and get the electric start! I think having that battery start option with the pull as an emergency back up will extend the life of your generator and prevent it from having to go to a service person to have the pull cord replaced (I’m not even sure where there are any Westinghouse service folks near me, yikes!). I would like to see a few things on future models. First, a better oil draining system. Second, an easier way to drain the fuel tank and easier access to the fuel shut off switches when you want to drain the fuel line and carburetor during long term storage. After this weekend I most likely won’t use this again until a power outage as we don’t do a ton of off the grid camping except for music festivals, which we are unfortunately reaching the end of that season. Third I would like to see some eye hooks permanently attached to the unit for locking purposes. You can lock through the handles but something on the sides would be nice. Fourth, improved insulation to further damper the sound of the engine. Fifth, I would like to see the exhaust heat redirected up, away from the grass. I have two dead spots in my yard from the the generator running and killing the grass with the exhaust. This is also problematic because I bought the Igen Generator umbrella which says it can be used during operations in the description but based on the heat coming from the exhaust, I’m not so sure I feel comfortable with that, I’ll have to read the directions from the umbrella and go from there…. I will probably be sending the umbrella back and purchasing a small easy up to put up over the generator if it needs to be used during any kind of in-climate weather. I feel very comfortable knowing I have this generator that can easily power my 19 foot hybrid travel trailer. I think there are definitely some improvements that can be made to produce a more superior product but overall I am VERY happy after two years or research and questioning myself about different brands that I finally purchased this Westinghouse dual fuel inverted generator. I hope to use it for years to come and that Westinghouse stands behind their product warranty without too much (or any) headache!

I haven't powered much with it yet, but is ridiculously easy to start and operate. I would have given five stars, but the included manual appears to be for a different revision of the generator, because the picture of the control panel does not match the actual control panel. The latest manual available on-line appears to match the actual control panel, but some of the described decals are different from the ones on my generator.

I bought this last month. Thankfully haven't had to use it yet. Cranked easily first try and ran quietly. Too heavy for a 65 year old woman to pick up but old woman and old man husband were able to pick up and set on back of truck. has an extension handle and rolls easily.

Purchased this for upcoming winter preparation. Initial testing went great on both gasoline and propane fuel. Was able to start via the push-button, pull-handle, and remote all as expected. Quiet (for a generator) operation, couldn't even hear it inside certain rooms of the house. Power output was smooth and as expected.

I love the compact nature of this product; the wheels make it incredibly easy to move around. The dual fuel feature is it especially important; recently during a storm both were in short supply, so being able to switch between the fuel types, made it more certain that we would continue to be able to fuel the generator.
