We love our new playset!
We absolutely love our new playset! It’s packed with fun features that both my son and daughter enjoy. It’s great for kids of all ages. I love the wood and black details which makes it aesthetically pleasing. Assembly took about a day and a half with two people.
PERFECT For kids of all ages!
This playset was gifted to my kids by their grandparents and it has been the BEST gift ever! My three year old enjoys going outside to play everyday when he comes home from daycare. It’s a great way to get that last little bit of energy out before bedtime. Each playset has different features that are great for children of all ages from toddlers to bigger kids. Even I enjoy climbing to the top or going through the tunnel with my kiddo. The set is very sturdy and very safe. Definitely well worth the investment. We have had ours for several months and the set still looks like new- virtually no wear and tear! Highly recommend!
Kids Love it!!! 5-Star Review with some issues!
I'm not going to regurgitate what many others have said in depth but I will try to hit on highlights and then my experience as well as some tips. 1. Like many other reviewers have said - When you get the boxes set aside 2 hours BEFORE you plan to install and get everything organized. Yes, the LUMBER in the best alphanumeric order you can get them, If I remember correctly there were like 24 M24s and 24 M25s and you'll know why when you go to build the thing. BUT GET YOUR LUMBER IN ORDER. 2. Get your hardware IN ORDER as well on its own fold out table or table or something that you can easily access. Put it in the best numerical order you can. You will see in my photos that I did it top to bottom for each column. Do it the way you want that's easy for you. **Side Note - if you have room the manufactuer actually prefers you clearcoat the wood before because you will get better coverage. But because I only had my garage and I didn't want to risk any rain, i didn't have the room to do it before hand. I will be clear coating mine next week POST build.** 3. You will build the ladder first, the door, the rock climbing wall, the Boom with angled tripod (essentially what the swings are attached to) and then finally the base with the tall little huts as I called them. Side Note* If you have the room, Pre-build the Ladder/door/rock-wall (in the order of directions first and maybe like a day before. They are pretty simple AND i think this was done on purpose as they make you feel good giving you like little wins as you go along! HAHA...the reason i say that, is because those 3 items, plus the BOOM/Angled Tripod do not even get installed until the very end!!!! 4. The pain is now here. Its building the base structure and then all the "HUTS" this thing goes 12 feet high and if you are alone, this is a gauntlet. The amount of lumber you are affixing with brackets, screwes, washers, bolts, etc etc etc will drive you mad. To me its 70% of the entire build in terms of TIME CONSUMPTION. 6. Once the main Base structure is erected you start to attach the slide, the rock wall, the ladder, the door, the BOOM with tripod, then the swings last, then you put in all the anchors. *How the build went?* So I had 3 guys total. The day before I organized all the wood and the hardware. (1.5 hours) Then later at night I went into the garage and build the Door/Rock-Wall/Ladder. That was fun and i was excited to do this for my kiddos. Started at 8:30 P.M. finished around 11:30 P.M. (3 Hours). Next day - I had my cousin and my dad. My dad was the runner (we would yell need M30 or M24, etc etc and he would grab and give to us while we built plus getting us hardware - but also there were times where he would assist one of us and the other person would be solo doing the grabbing and building vise versa). We started at 9:00 A.M. and got the BOOM/Tripod done first and then the base structure, all the pre-built stuff I did the night before attached, swings etc. We finished at 7 P.M. on the nose. Literally. We only drank and ate one time some lunch and it was really fast, 10 mins tops. (10 Hours) *Total Build Time* (1.5 + 3 + 10 = 15* hours approximately). Spanned over 2 days. Could this get done in 1 day? With professionals who have built multiple of these, YES. Because now that I have done it, I would go way faster in the auxilary pieces that you do first. Probably would have been done in 2 hours as well as the parts separation down an hour. so 2 hours saved right there. Tack that on to the total build time and starting at say 8 a.m. on the nose, 8 p.m. finish time is doable. Positives: A. Everything is clearly marked B. Directions both in book and BILT app were pretty straight forward. C. Absolutely beautiful set. My kids haven't stopped playing in it in 2 weeks. My neighbors all love it and are in awe of it. It's colors are very very modern and chic so it doesn't look like some dingy metal playset. Negatives: A. Took WAY too long. It's a huge time investment. I can see why for some couples that reviewed this, it took them darn near 3 days. I TOTALLY can see that. B. Some of the wood was warped but was able to make it work. Also some of the wood pieces kind of fractured....ahh well. C. I think that Backyard Indoors could do something to have fix the design so there isn't so many individual pieces of construction. It's just way tooo tedious. *Caution/Need to Know* A. When you are done, there will be a ton of hardware leftover - don't freak out. This is normal. I got nervous at first but then some of the swing sets use the same hardware and those will use more or less of the same stuff so I think Backyard Indoor just makes one giant Hardware pack for all the sets regardless of Hardware waste. B. I cannot EMPHASIZE SORTING ALL YOUR MATERIAL BEFORE HAND. SORT IT. DO IT UP FRONT. IT WILL SAVE YOU SO MUCH TIME I PROMISE! C. This can be done by 1 person but its going to a terror. Try to have at LEAST 1 more person. The more the merrier even if those additional hands can't stay too long. Good Luck to everyone out there! I hope my review helped.
Not the easiest to put together..
it took 4 of us approximately 15-16 hours to assemble. DEFINETELY pay attention to the location of holes in each member. we open each box and gathered the packing list. We then used two tables to lay out all the hardware and had one person gather Hardware and assembly pieces while three of us put it together. When you get the base together stop and make sure that it's level before you go any further!
Thank you for your review! Assembly can be tedious, but we're sure that your little ones will love it! If there is anything we can do to assist you, please contact us at 800.856.4445 or by email at customerserv@backyarddiscovery.com. We are available 7 days a week, 8am-6pm CST.
Great fun for Kids of all ages
I bought this playset a month ago and my grandkids just love it. They have had so much fun playing on the swings, crawling thru the tunnel, having a pretend cookout with the grill and spying on the neighbors with the telescope. I'm very happy with this purchase.
Really nice play structure, ok installation
The play structure itself is great. It looks really nice, and my daughter is having a blast. She loves the hidden tower and the tunnel. I do wish there were some hand grips to help get up and down from the top look out tower, and the wood stairs do get slippery in the rain. These are probably only really an issue if you have little kids. Kind of wish we hadn't paid for installation. It took almost two weeks to even schedule, and after it was completed, there ended up being missing bolts and some loose connections and some other issues that we had to fix ourselves. For the money and time it took for install, I was hoping for a better quality job.
Adorable Fub
We bought this set this summer for our children. We have had it for a few months now and we absolutely love it! It is so sturdy, has an incredible amount of features, and is something I know our kids will use for years to come. I love how stylish it looks in our yeard and there are plenty of safety features. We put this up ourselves in just one weekend and things were labeled very clearly. It has stood up to quite a bit of our windy stormy weather quite well! I would highly recommend. We did add extra anchors to this set since it is quite tall.
Kids love it!
We purchased this for our 3 and 7 year old kids and they love it! We assembled it ourselves, and while the process was time-consuming the pieces were well made and labeled to make the build as simple as possible. All of the holes lined up with no issues. The diagrams and instructions were easy to follow. It feels solid and we have no concerns about the longevity or safety of the equipment.
Better organization for both the wood and hard wear.
Each box should have the letters in alphabetical order 1-4 starting A to Z not 4 of G in box 1 then have 2 in box 4 and the rest split up in box 2 & 3. It'd be so much easier if box 1 had A-K, box 2 have L-U and so on ... Also hardware could be numbered in order instead of random numbers so they could be laid out in numerical order. This project could take a lot less time if they had any organization to the packaging. Did have a couple pieces of wood with cracks when we opened but they quickly sent out new pieces. Some of the rock wall was not lined up/cut even so it's crooked.
Wonderful for my Great-grand
I bought this for Christmas for my 2 year old great-granddaughter and she loves it. She is a little short but can still climb all the features on this set with the exception of the rope ladder, but as adventurous as she is I know she will figure that one out before too long. She loves the slide and the tower. Her favorite is the web swing. I am so happy with this purchase and look forward to many years of enjoyment and enrichment for her.
