Best of the Best !!!

I started using the chimney method several years ago,,best thing since VELCRO !!!! I found using plain computer paper ( 3 sheets ) gives a better taste than newspaper--no ink !!!. I only use the Original Charcoal,,gives a better, longer lasting fire...

Original

I love the original Kingsford charcoal and use it as long as possible every year here in upstate New York. It burns perfectly in just the right amount of time. There was a time near the end of last grilling season when I could not get any from my local store. I had to get another brand. I used it twice and threw the res of bag out. I swear by Kingsford and look forward to much grilling with it this season. Thanks, Rich

Charcoal and lighter fluid

I have been using this brand for a long time and have spent alot of money in the last few months i have purchased some really poor quality charcoal and fluid . The charcoal taking longer than normal to light and fluid that wont even start the coals its like water so ive gone out and purchased other brands.

match light wouldn't light

we bought a new bag of Kingsford Match Light a week before Thanksgiving. We have a tradition of grilling our turkey, and have been using Kingsford for almost three decades. This year, however, it did not turn out well. I set up the grill, a Weber Kettle, as usual, put in the charcoal, AND IT WOULD NOT LIGHT. I finally had to resort to a sizeable dose of charcoal lighter fluid to start the coals, and even then, the coals did not get hot enough to adequately cook the turkey. I finally had to resort to finishing it on our gas grill, and still ended up with a delayed dinner. I don't know what happened to Kingsford, but will be looking for another alternative in the future.

Short burn time and temperature

I don't know what you did, but this is much different now. As soon as I picked the bag up, I noticed it was significantly lighter than expected. Then I noticed that the coals burned half the time I typically get and also didn't get as hot. I smoke my meats, slow and low. I had a hard time getting to 250F with indirect heat and then I had to add more coals approximately every hour. Normally I can get to temp quickly and it will burn for 2hrs before I have to add more coals.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. At Kingsford, we aim to make grilling more convenient while preserving what makes it so special. Lighter briquettes are easier to transport and more convenient. Importantly, while the weight of each briquet has changed, they have the same number of briquets and should burn as long. We'd love to help. Please call us at 800-232-4745 mentioning this reference number 220224-000389, so we can. We hope to hear from you soon. Shannon from The Kingsford Team

Has Something Changed?

Over the years I have bought nothing but Kingsford charcoal, but it seems over the last year or two, the charcoal has been burning out, losing it's heat much faster than in the past. Wondering if something has changed in "the recipe" to make this happen? Last night I barely had enough heat to cook 10 chicken legs. Just curious.

Great Everytime!

I have been buying Kingsford original for years and it has always been consistent in quality and performance. They flavor it imparts into grilled foods is uncomparable to other charcoals. I just wish the price wouldn't go up so much in the "off season"--winter.

Kingsford Original

My most recent experiences with Kingsford have been awful. Not sure if the formulas has changed, but the coals don't last as long as they have in the past. In the past I was able to cook several rounds of steaks, but now I can barely make it thru a second round. Please go back to your original formula.

Thanks for reaching out with your experience using our Original Charcoal Briquettes, and we'd love to help. We wanted to be sure you know that Kingsford Original charcoal briquets are now ready to cook about 15 minutes after lighting them up. If you're cooking for more than 40 minutes, you will probably need to add more briquets to the fire. We'd love the chance to make this experience up to you, so please give us a call directly at 800-232-4745 with this reference number 211026-000230. We hope you'll give us a call real soon.

great

This charcoal combines the performance needed for competition level results with the convenience needed for backyard barbecue. You get the best of both worlds — the high heat associated with lump charcoal plus the unique briquet shape that provides the consistent burn you need for perfect results every time.

Great Lasting Fire for Hours

I have used the original briquets as well as the new briquets. To start a fire the newer version gets the fire started sooner, but they fizzle too quickly. They are good for a small amount of cooking, but if you want longevity, light them up, soak the coals and get to grilling the old school way. If stacked and soaked properly and of course ( I never put meat on the fire until I see some white in the coals) I have had fires burn 6 or more hours without a restart and this is of course cooking chicken, (which takes the longest to cook) along with burgers and many other food items. Kingsford is the only way to go........ Kingsford charcoal briquets signify the official kickoff of the summer.
