We always buy Kingsford. When we visit family at the lake cabin, my husband and I are in charge of grilling. There's an ongoing feud between the neighbors and us regarding which makes the better burger - gas or charcoal - and the charcoal wins hands down every time.

I have used your product for many years but have noticed in the past 2 years it is not the same! To get it up to cooking temperature I have to take my lawn blower to it. And then it does not last very long. In the mean time I bought another brand that burns just like the old Kingsford. You must have changed the formulation to maintain margin.

I've used only Kingsford briquets for a very long time, probably 30 years or more. The product is great quality, with no variance between purchases. It lights easily, burns predictably, and makes great smoke. My cooks will often be 100 lb. pork chops, 10 to 16 Boston butts, 20 or more chicken halves, ribs by the case, or as many as 25 steaks. I really do not want to use any other brand.

I'm 52 and my family and I have always used Kingsford charcoal for our grilling. We also used the briquettes to soak up dampness from our basement and it was better than all the others we tried. My problem now is the briquettes have shrunk. They used to be plump, hard as rocks, and heavy. Now they are flat, with a crease in the middle which I have no idea why, and are light weights. They don't burn as long or as hot and I have to use twice as much and the price per bag has increased so it makes it more expensive. Will kingsford ever go back to the original original? It was such a good product. I'll still use it because of the flavor and ease of use and it leaves no after taste (the fluid) like others do. Please Kingsford go back to the fat briquettes.

I've always used Kingsford, but will be looking for another brand. The briquets light quick, but they also burn quick. I don't remember ever having Kingsford burn this fast. As others have said, it's ok for weiners or a couple burgers, but for anything that takes longer to cook, you'll have to keep adding briquets to make the coals last. I'll be trying different brands in the hopes of finding something that lasts longer.

I've been using Kingsford Charcoal for over 40 years now. Kingsford has always been the best and totally consistant until the last couple of years. First you shrank the coals so they didn't burn as long. Cooking indirectly I went from adding coals after an hour, to having to add coals after the first 40 minutes. It was just inconvienent, I adjusted my times was all. Now two years ago you changed the charcoal again. You made it a bit larger and a little denser. For grilling the charcoal is ok, but when cooking indirectly with the denser charcoal is a disaster. First I couldn't get the barbeque over 300 degrees. Next when I added charcoal after 40 minutes, the additional charcoal never lit. Well they burned maybe 1/8" and then went out. The barbeque just kept getting cooler and cooler and I had to take those beautiful pork spare ribs and give them to my wife to put into the oven. I was so disappointed I could barely eat one bite of those ribs. I guess I'm going to have to start searching for a new charcoal to use. I've always used Kingsford because of it's consistancy and quality. I'm very disappointed that such an all time great product ruined themselves like this. Kingsford once had the best charcoal out there, maybe someone in the company will listen and retool to make their charcoal back into the supurb quality product that it used to be.

My husband is the grill master in our family. He uses a charcoal canister and will only buy kingsford. It burns slower and lasts longer than any other brand we've tried. I would recommend this brand over any other brand out there. five stars for taste and value.

As a mom I like to save (time, money, childrens artwork, etc). Although, this brand can be $1-2 more expensive its worth it. Ive tried the generics from many stores and ive tried all the leading national brands. Nothing lights better or lasts longer than Kingsford.

I’ve been using Kingsford original since the late 80’s and the formula has for sure changed. I burn it in a Weber Smokey Mountain but as of late the amount of ash and heavy white smoke have proven to be too much. It definitely does not perform like the “older” version. I have made the switch to lump charcoal because of this and having been using the smoker for 13 years it is a bit of a pain and time consuming to regulate heat. One thing about the “ “older version” Kingsford is the coals do produce steady heat. I’m unlikely to go back to Kingsford.

Kingsford is simply the best charcoal and worth spending a little extra money to avoid the problems with bargain brand charcoal, including not staying lit very long and sometimes being damp in the bag, which is just great for burning! Stick with the best people.
