Great charcoal = great cooking

I have always used kingsford. I find it easy to light and able to cook on it quickly. good product for all grilling needs. I have also used with my cast iron cookware. does great for the baking of breads and cakes in my pots. fits in the rim of my pan just right for easy use

Original

I love the original Kingsford charcoal and use it as long as possible every year here in upstate New York. It burns perfectly in just the right amount of time. There was a time near the end of last grilling season when I could not get any from my local store. I had to get another brand. I used it twice and threw the res of bag out. I swear by Kingsford and look forward to much grilling with it this season. Thanks, Rich

Charcoal Quality has Diminished

I am 54 years old and have been grilling with Kingsford for 32 years. I am an avid griller , using real wood, propane, lump charcoal and Kingsford briquets on a weekly basis. Around 3 years ago I noticed that the original briquets did not last as long and that the heat would die out sooner than I had remembered in the past. I thought maybe it was a fluke or a bad batch of charcoal. I have continued to purchase and use large amounts of Kingsford original charcoal but have found that I have had to double the amount of briquets that I use to achieve the same results. To no avail, the charcoal burns out much faster than it use to, requires fanning toward the end of my grilling session just to keep the heat up. The density of the charcoal is definitely different than it use to be. My questions to the company is this: Did the composition change? Was this an attempt to increase use, and add to the bottom line? I will switch to lump charcoal , I have found El Diable to be pretty reliable although I prefer the even heat of briquets charcoal I will make due with lump charcoal that lasts until I have finished grilling. Sincerely, A former and disappointed Kingsford Griller Henry Yniguez

The ONLY Charcoal!

I've been "real" grilling (with charcoal, not gas) forever. I'm 70 and have gone through many grills but never a change to my charcoal. None are better, none give us the true grill flavor we all want. And long lasting? Heck yes if you know how to conserve the used coals for the next meal treat. Kingsford is the best! The others aren't even close.

Rising price, smaller bag, piney tasting meat

I've been a Kingsford user for well over 40 years and like others have become dissatisfied with the product (cost, bag size, etc.). The charcoal is hard to get started but once it does it burns too fast for my meat to cook. And it leaves a chemical taste. No, I don't immediately place my meat on the grill I wait at least 25 minutes for the lighter fluid fumes to dissipate. Will have to look for a replacement product.

I will only cook on Kingsford briquets.

I've used only Kingsford briquets for a very long time, probably 30 years or more. The product is great quality, with no variance between purchases. It lights easily, burns predictably, and makes great smoke. My cooks will often be 100 lb. pork chops, 10 to 16 Boston butts, 20 or more chicken halves, ribs by the case, or as many as 25 steaks. I really do not want to use any other brand.

Unhappy

I've always used Kingsford, but will be looking for another brand. The briquets light quick, but they also burn quick. I don't remember ever having Kingsford burn this fast. As others have said, it's ok for weiners or a couple burgers, but for anything that takes longer to cook, you'll have to keep adding briquets to make the coals last. I'll be trying different brands in the hopes of finding something that lasts longer.

Kingsford's is the best!

My husband prefers the charcoal grill over the gas grill. when were in a hurry I always suggest using the gas grill since it is ready quicker. My husband says it won't take that long! I don't know if it is the charcoal or my husband who does all the grilling, but whatever is grilled always taste great!

What Happened?!

My boyfriend and I grill out every weekend. I noticed that the bags of Kingsford Charcoal that we bought this year have not lasted as long as the ones bought last year. We almost have to use a whole bag in one grilling to get the food cooked. Sometimes I end up just putting the meat in the oven. I mean by the time its ready for the meat its ash. What happened? I mean if its not broke why fix it.

Reliable & long lasting

We have a charcoal/gas combo grill but I always use the charcoal side because I love the flavor that the Kingsford original charcoal adds to the meat. Wasn't aware that it stated on the bag that it was improved, but had noticed that it seemed to light up faster. With these short day light hours, it helped get dinner on the table that much quicker. Kingsford is all that I buy unless I'm desperate and the Kingsford is sold out.
