Best security cameras we have ever had. This is the 4th brand of cameras we have owned and hands down the best. The night vision is amazing. The system is easy to set up.

The cameras have a very detailed picture. Color is great. My wife and I prefer the hard wired camera system instead of having a wireless system. That way unless the power is out we are recording. This is a great system

The coax cable based cameras with the security system we installed when we built our house ten years ago were beginning to fail. We bought our old system at Sam’s. It was a Q-See system and Q-See has gone out of business. We wanted to replace the old cameras and DVR with a good camera and DVR system that would utilize our already installed coax cable. We also wanted to buy from a company that has a long and stable history. After doing a lot of research, we found the Defender DVR system we bought at Sam’s to be the best one for us. We got it at a sale price, and the price was fair when compared to other brand systems. The Defender system is so much better that our old Q-See system. There is no comparison. The DVR, cameras and software of the Defender system appear to be top-notch and the system was easy to install and set up. It is also easy to use. The Defender internet app (called Empower) that is included with the system is excellent. There is no initial or ongoing charge for the app, and with a DVR system all info is stored in the home, which is what we want. You do need to hardwire the DVR to your router with an Ethernet cable to be able to use the app. Wi-Fi capability is not available. There is a slight downside, but it doesn’t merit taking any stars off. Customer and technical support with Defender is through chat and email ONLY. You cannot actually speak with a person if you have an issue. I had a couple of questions when setting up the system. The chat and email people were friendly and answered my questions, albeit it may take a while for them to get back to you, and there were separate follow-up feedback requests regarding how the interaction went. We absolutely love the system, and we can recommend Defender without reservation.

Can not be used with computers. While trying to fix a plugin issue, this is what Defender sent me "will no longer be updating our Web User Interface for the Defender product lines we are focusing on bringing you the best possible mobile viewing experience on iPhone and Android smartphone devices".

purchased for my business. worst camera system i have ever owned. their is no desktop program, you have to use an android or iphone. on the phone app, the fast speed options to playback are very limted. the computer is super loud. the cameras are as clear as the system i had already had from 2016 that i replaced. i would have returned, but already installed and is too much headache to uninstall just to reinstall new one.

I bought it & did biggest mistake. Trying to contact them no phone no. For defender co. You can chat with them. But chat look like goes to Philipines or other country. Don’t understand there English. So I will highly recommend not to buy this camera system. It’s thousand dollar product not worth a dime. Lorex is the best. Good picture quality.
