Aside from the complexity of installing/hiding wiring in attics and walls, the Defender 4K was very easy to install. The power connections, wiring and connections are very well made, well marked and a breeze to connect. My only issue was the DVR power supply out of the box would not power up. A new power supply and DVR is being shipped out, and once it is installed, I'll update the review. Looking forward to having the peace of mind Defender 4K will bring.

The product came all neatly wrapped in a box with everything that I would need included. The only thing I needed to provide is a viewing monitor or TV. The company even provides a free app to go with the cameras that has come in handy for easy viewing. There are no contracts or monthly payments with this security system. That is a big plus in my mind. I get to do all of the monitoring myself. My system included four cameras which is perfect for us as we put two in the front of our house and two in the back. We live in a rural part of our state and having extra security we felt was a great need. The ease of setup for this system wasn't too bad. It did take some time to get everything installed and in place but it is worth every penny. I was very happy to see that Defender includes everything you need to make the cameras work including a mouse and HDMI cords. You don't need to spend any extra money on this product after you get it home. It's as easy as taking it out of the box and installing it and protecting your home. I feel much safer in my home with these cameras and highly recommend this company.

Bought the 4K1T4B4 system refurbished and it seems to be working fine, though I've only installed it today. Nothing special. The DVR settings/menu control is a little slow and unresponsive. Manuals aren't as readily accessible. It runs relatively quiet compared to my old Defender DVR. I haven't opened the DVR up to check what hard drive is used, so I hope it doesn't fail prematurely. The cameras are made of plastic which makes me wonder their actual resistance to the elements despite the IP67 and -40°C ratings. Night performance is not as good as some of the more expensive products in the market but if there's sufficient ambient light, it's good enough for my need. I only wish the angle of view is a little larger, at least 90° instead of 79°. The BNC cables for the cameras aren't heavy duty enough to be used exposed outdoor, better get some heavier gauge cables if you plan of running the cables outdoor exposed. The HDMI and Ethernet cables are a nice touch. The mouse is nothing special and will likely break with heavy usage. My other major concern in addition to the quality of the weather-sealing on the cameras and the hard drive is the power supplies. I've had to get replacement power supplies for my old Defender security system a few years into service. Only time will tell how this system will stand. All in all, for the price, it's good thus far, 4 hours post-installation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Defender Wired 4k wired security system for just over two weeks. I got the system and it was very well packed. It was organized and contained a lot of parts! It was a little intimidating for me to at first. I wanted a hard wired system because I was hoping for consistant quality. I still have to tidy up the wiring. The directions seemed too technical so I followed them slowly, step by step. Set up was mostly smooth for my first time installing something like this. I looked up a few details on the internet to make sure I was setting the DVR up correctly. After I had the whole thing set up, I was impressed with the quality of the pictures and the wide angles. Even at night, I could see pretty well. I'm still tinkering with some of the settings but I like all the different views. The only thing that could make that better would be if you could pan around but really with so many cameras set up, it's not neccesary. It's a powerful system for my home. It would also be great for use at a small business. I am able to have every single dark corner, gate and door under surveillance. I'm learning the app and am so glad to have this feature without paying a monthy service fee.

The angle is wide and the images are very clear, especially at night time. I feel my house is covered securely with 4 cameras which connected to my phone app so that I can watch it anytime I want. Would love to recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 4 camera system allows me to cover the outside of my house really well. I am able to put two far back from the front of the house and cover the side/front, along with one that covers the front door and one that covers the driveway. It was my mistake, but getting the wired version required a bit more work. It's pretty straight-forward, but running wire is not fun for me. Overall, it is a good system, with quality construction. I look forward to seeing what all I catch on video.

We purchased three units for our school facilities. All three boxes were missing the camera power adapters; but after contacting support we received them within a few days without any issues. I've installed 8 of the 16 cameras from one of the units so far; it's a slow process but well worth it. I have had to order some longer cable lengths as 60' isn't long enough for some areas. The daytime picture quality is really great on the 43" HDTV (I have yet to try it on a 4K TV). I was surprised at how good the picture quality was at night on both inside and outside cameras. I am able to access the cameras on the app only when I am at school on the same network; I need to do some research into what settings to enable to view it when at home or away from school. Otherwise, the app works great with both live and previously recorded video. I am looking forward to getting the rest of the cameras installed and figuring out the app settings for when I am away from school. I highly recommend this system!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Multiple cameras keeps monitoring ALERT, ACTIVE, and ACCURATE... At home and away? My self and my belongings are guarded by CLEAR, CLEVER CONFIGURING. I couldn't ask for more in a type-product. I find it to be PROFESSIONAL and PROFOUND.

Mobile app has less functionalities that it's wrote on your website (notifications, filter). Many configuration are only available through connecting a screen on the unit (mine is in my house roof). Web configuration is limited and plug-in seem to be a malware and anyway plugin is not working at all.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The defender security system is impressive. My husband had these installed( lines ran and 4 cameras) hooked up in 2 hours. Picture quality is phenomenal and the DVR system is a breeze to use! Living out in the rural country with closet neighbor 2.5 acres away, we feel installing these was a no brainer. I’m amazed at how great these little cameras work. The only thing we had an issue with was figuring out where to places cameras. We have a large house 88 ft long and the cables wouldn’t reach where we wanted them. Overall the system is fantastic, very user friendly!! I would recommend these to anyone looking for a quality product that your typical homeowners could use. I’ll include pictures shortly. For some reason my computer won’t upload them currently.
