Good cameras. Poor customer service

Shipping was fast. Video quality is good. 60ft cable length was insufficient and had spend more for 100ft cables. IR Motion detection is horrible at night. Triggers an alert for very big, fly etc. Customer service has not replied to two of my cases. One for warranty registration and other for tech issue. So looks like they don’t care much after the Sale. Mobile App is very basic. Downloading the video clip from phone is a hit or miss. It errors out most of the time saying “too short duration playback failed”. I am wondering if I made the right decision but this system based on reviews

nice system

my wireless system i bought 3 years ago dvr failed and they didn't have a replacement for it or repair available. bought the wired system and aside from the 'trouble' of crawling under the house etc of a wired system works great. better cameras and infrared as they say. small unit so cables can be tough to connect if you have fat fingers. technophobe so hadn't tried to hook up to the app. looks like it is beyond my VERY limited confidence. good deal and would buy again. in canada so no sales tax. the chat people are the BEST.

Let me start by saying I was very nervous about purchasing this system. I'm NOT computer savoy and neither is my husband! We purchased the 16 camera 4K system to replace an older system we had for our business. Let me say, watching the You Tube videos a bunch of times made the process very easy! The set up was pretty simple, but I suggest watching the video's for me at least it helped tremendously! We just replaced the camera's we had so we had all the wiring in place, so that cut a lot of time off the installation. I would recommend buying this system!

Won’t buy another system.

These cameras are wonderful. I like that each camera does not need its own power adapter. We can put 4 camera lines per power adapter. That’s something we had an issue with when it came to a different company. We ordered the 16-channel unit from Defender and it covers a 5000 square ft area easily. We love the quality of the images and how easy it is to use the system.

Pro security camera system at a great price.

The Defender camera system is a sophisticated security camera system which comes with a highly configurable application to set up and control the behavior of the cameras. The 4K video is excellent and has a viewing coverage that is very good. The motion detection is configurable and the notifications, which may be sent via SMS (text) and or email, are generated very quickly. The only improvement I can suggest is that the motion detection can be less sensitive to shadows of trees blowing in the breeze or insects flying by the cameras. There is a sensitivity adjustment and you can adjust the size of the motion detection area, but these false positives can't be eliminated with the current software.

Picture quality is quite good for the price, was surprised. Only thing I don’t like so far is that I had to mount a camera sideways to get a taller narrower picture to cover my whole driveway. The image on the app or display monitor is sideways and can’t be rotated.

It's an OK system

Just an OK review because the cameras are just OK. No left/right movement & narrow field of view. & no option to upgrade cameras. User interface is VERY confusing to me. I'm not computer illiterate, but the interface is confusing. However, set up instructions were good. Never got email notification to work. Images are pretty good. cables are good. Box & wires are a mess. That's not a knock on this brand, but in wired systems.

The cameras have a 79-degree field of view and they are not Pan, Tilt and Zoom cameras however the cameras have a digital zoom feature. Hardware is good. Support and guides are lacking. Got it working to my phone no problem, but want it on tablet and wife's phone. Says you can set up sharing but no instructions on how to achieve it. Can it actually do it? Where is the instructions to do it.

To share the device with someone else please follow these steps: Please have the person you wish to share the cameras with sign up for their own account right on the app. Click more in the bottom right corner. Then please click Manage sharing Settings Tap the plus to Add Recipient Enter the Mobile Phone Number or Email Address of the person you want to share with. Enter Remarks to leave the recipient details about the request. Never send the device password in the remarks section. Tap the Check mark icon to send. The recipient will receive a notification that there is a device to share. Tap Scan QR Code to scan the recipient’s device QR Code. The recipient will receive a notification that there is a device to share. The Recipient can find their QR Code by tapping More > Account Management > My QR Code. The code can be sent to the requester and scanned remotely. Simple install but use have patience.

Very easy to install and setup! Used a 1” concrete drill bit to drill through brick, pulled wires through no problem. Two sets of wires will go through the 1” hole. Hardest part of the job is fishing the wires through the walls/ceiling. Buy a fish tape. Connection to DVR was simple with color coded connections on back. Connected cable to HDMI 2 on tv and labelled it PC, use tv menu and it’s right beside Netflix. Don’t use any IP or PTZ camera settings in PVR menu! Don’t go crazy adjusting menu settings but keep password strong. Setup Defender 4K APP and adjust cameras with phone right in front of you. On a scale of 1-10 for installation, I’ll give it a 8 for average person. For a pro, easy 10. At night time, use the APP to fine tune for night vision so the light lines up where you want to see. Daytime will be perfect after that. Simple
