I bought this the end of October 2019 and got via UPS. I connected the hardware to verify that it was operational and to my surprise it was more than expected. I should have visited the website to look for and purchase a wireless system, however; the wired system is just as good. I am impressed with the clarity and detailed broadcast of the camera feed. I haven't had this system very long and still yet have to thoroughly check it out over time but for now I'm satisfied. I intend on visiting the website about 6 months out to update my review and hopefully I can rate it 5 stars. The rating is the reason I purchased this video security system. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Defender Wired 4k wired security system for just over two weeks. I got the system and it was very well packed. It was organized and contained a lot of parts! It was a little intimidating for me to at first. I wanted a hard wired system because I was hoping for consistant quality. I still have to tidy up the wiring. The directions seemed too technical so I followed them slowly, step by step. Set up was mostly smooth for my first time installing something like this. I looked up a few details on the internet to make sure I was setting the DVR up correctly. After I had the whole thing set up, I was impressed with the quality of the pictures and the wide angles. Even at night, I could see pretty well. I'm still tinkering with some of the settings but I like all the different views. The only thing that could make that better would be if you could pan around but really with so many cameras set up, it's not neccesary. It's a powerful system for my home. It would also be great for use at a small business. I am able to have every single dark corner, gate and door under surveillance. I'm learning the app and am so glad to have this feature without paying a monthy service fee.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There is a lot of activity in my neighborhood and I wanted to be able to see what is happening in and around my home. We installed the Defender 4K. Installation was made more difficult because I needed to connect it to my router, but it was because my router is on a shelf 10 feet off the floor. The cameras provide a sharp picture, and the DVR has terrific memory. The product is well worth the money in peace of mind.

Just received this. The system configures and installs as I had expected (I have installed many before - other brands, etc., and they all work the same. Great video quality. Setup seemed pretty simple, advanced needs some more detail for advanced customers so we don't have to bother customer support.

There have been break-ins at other local establishments, and we wanted to add some security. This 8-camera system covers our entire building, including all points of entry and the doorway leading to our safe. Nice to be able to do this on our own with one investment rather than using a security company with monthly fees.

The system installation does require some electrical and tech knowledge but nothing that a DYI homeowner can' handle. The instructions provided for install are easy to follow. The video images are high quality and we like the peace of mind of being able to check on our home through the app. Very happy with this system!

I needed to update my security cameras from an old defender system. It was about 6 years old and still worked fine. I wanted better resolution. The picture on this system is excellent. Installation was easy. Software set up was not as simple as my old system but the app is good. Added my wife's phone and we are up and running. Night vision is great. Have had foxes and raccoons caught wandering through my yard. Neighbors had cars broken into and I was able to provide the police with stills and video of the person trying my car doors. Luckily we had ours locked.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i just got this on saturday, it looked so hard to set up, but we are in the process of finishing it all up, there is a lot of pieces to put together, the instructions are pretty easy to understand, although i need a usb card to activate the system, in the process of doing that now.

We purchased The defender Security system 4K about a month ago and are very pleased to date. The features included are basically easy to understand. Just takes a little time to feel comfortable with it. We purchased a wireless remote which makes the functionality much easier. We did the installation ourselves wasn’t too bad.
