I used good hydrating brands when I was a smoker which worked well but daily shampoos had to be more damaging with daily styling. I actually have an oily scalp but didn't realize due to the daily shampooing. Even with an oily scalp, this moisture shampoo does not make matters worse. It is refreshing with no irritation and I wash my hair every two to three days now and am sure I will probably go back to daily shampooing with my Head and Shoulders for the hot summer months of course to stay fresh.
