Haven't used this one yet. Just bought it for when the old one tears up. If the wire at the peak of the umbrella was stainless steel these would be indestructible! They rust overtime and while I have restrung one before it's not worth the effort. We use ours in salt water.

We bought this umbrella for our family vacation and the main stake that holds the umbrella in the sand snapped on first use. The pole is too long, skinny, and fragile for the weight of the umbrella top! Very poor design and waste of money. I hope to return this crap for credit.

Durable, easy set up, huge, and beautiful.

Great umbrella that was assembled in a factory, on Friday in China. Took it on a beach vacation to find it missing the pole connector. It wasn’t even drilled out to shove a temporary screw fix through. Being stuck with it at this point, I used an old umbrella pole to make it work. It’s a great umbrella but quality control is a crapshoot. I would have returned it but it was vacation and the nearest Sam’s club was an hour plus away.

I purchased one of these umbrellas around 10 or 12 years ago and like it so much I, finally, bought a new one. The aluminum shafts make it light, the fiberglass ribs give it strength, and the fabric is solid. One weak spot has been upgraded - the connection point between the two shafts now has spring steel buttons/tabs to lock the pieces together. This replaces the previous plastic latch that didn't work well and didn't last long - I had to drill a hole and use a bolt & wing-nut to hold it together. The only remaining weak spot is the hinge that allows the umbrella to be angled. I assume it's the same relatively cheap alloy from the original/earlier version - once this fails, the umbrella is pretty useless for me. I'm looking forward to and expecting years of use. I would have purchased the model that has the rod/handle and auger tip, but, I couldn't justify doubling the price.

I really love this umbrella. I love the bright colors. The fabric and structure is well made and resilient. My only reason for the 4 star and not the 5 is because of the manner to open and close the umbrella. You need upper arm strength and some core work because getting the umbrella open takes some strength. Closing is the same thing. I have to remove it from the table, so I can reach the mechanism and have a better angle to open and close the umbrella. If you are a tall, strong man or woman, you'll love this. I still love it, but I don't open it as often as I'd like.
