Well built, but doesn't keep ice

Had the cooler over half full of ice, 6 cans and 6 waters. Only kept ice for 3 days. Nowhere near the advertised 6. I bought this cooler because of that statement. Very disappointed. I will say that the cooler is built very well. Its very strong, and the handles and latches are tough. Its just the performance is not as advertised. Maybe if you kept the cooler inside in air conditioning without opening it would it keep for 6 days. But if you have it in a vehicle traveling, you know, doing what coolers are made for; its not going to keep ice very long.

Spacious and well built

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 65qt cooler is amazing. It is the first cooler that we have found where we can put 1gallon milk jugs side-by-side, leaving the rest of the cooler with plenty of space to put our other food items. The seal on the cooler is incredible and stops almost all of the water from exiting the cooler when it is tipped on its side. The latch system is really easy to use. We've had other coolers in the past with hinges made of plastic that fail over time and we know we won't have that issue with this cooler because the hinge is a metal rod that goes through the lid and the cooler so we don't see how this could fail as our other coolers' hinges have in the past. It also has a wide drain plug for quick draining of water when you're ready to empty out excess water. Lastly, the ice-retention is pretty amazing on this cooler. Ice lasts for days where-as with other coolers we've owned the ice usually lasts 1.5 - 2 days if we're lucky. This is hands down the best cooler that we have ever owned.

Works Great When Used Properly

When I first got this cooler I was excited to give it a test run. I pre-cooled it with a block of ice and then 12 hours later I put a block of ice in it and closed it up. I came home 10 hours later and was surprised to find half of the block melted and there was a fair bit of water in the bottom of the cooler. I did a second test and used 3 large blocks of ice and had a similar result (a fair bit of melting in a short period of time). 3rd test proved that I was doing it wrong the first 2 times and has kept 3 blocks of ice rock solid for several days. Here's what I learned that made ALL the difference: 1. Pre-cool the cooler with ice 2. Use COLD ice. That sounds stupid but my second test I used ice that had just frozen and was still a bit wet. The ice I used in my last test had been frozen for 2 days and lasted MUCH longer 3. Fill the empty space. For my test I used a couple of towels to fill in the empty space in the cooler. This is a larger cooler than I'm used to having so the empty space is your enemy. 4. Don't drain the water - leave the ice cold water in the bottom After doing those 4 simple things I can say this cooler does works amazingly well and keeps ice solid for several days.

Ice-Retention + Features + Construction = Incredible Value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second Lifetime cooler, and I continue to be impressed with the construction quality and ice-retention of these coolers. This model easily retained ice for 5+ days, making it ideal for week-long trips. I really appreciate the latching mechanism -- easy to open and close, while providing a very solid lockdown of the lid to the base of the cooler. The drain cap is attached to the drain and is very easy to unscrew thanks to its oversized, gear-like design. The rope handles are nice, especially when it comes to lowering/lifting the cooler into a vehicle or onto a boat from a dock. Durable construction with a sturdy lid that did not flex when I stood on it and sat on it. Big fan of this cooler -- highly recommend.

Thunder Beast of coolers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got my hands on the new 65 qt Lifetime cooler. This thing is the Thunder Beast of coolers, tough and insulated against the elements. *Warning*- For the people adventuring solo. This cooler is heavy when you get it full, so pack it after you place it in your vehicle or make sure you have a friend. This is typical of a cooler that can handle the extremes like this lil Thunder Beast. It's a BIG cooler, lift accordingly. Looks like the seal on the lid got relocated to a better spot and its thicker, I dumped mine on it’s side and it didn’t spill. *My wife thanks you. The bottle openers are on the corner. At first I was like awwwwwh how cute, then I used them, my cuteness went from awwwwww to awwwwwwsome in a hurry. There is a little notch under the opener perfect for bottle to fit and leverage down as you pop that top. It fit nicely in the back of my Wrangler and my dog could still jump out. I brined two 15 lbs turkeys in it the day before Thanksgiving, then cleaned it out and put some energy drinks and ice in it. We drove round the whole weekend and found black friday shoppers and handed them some much needed caffeine. We were in an out of the cooler 100 times and never needed to replace the ice. 5 days and still going strong. I jumped on the lid, hey it’s got a 5 year warranty…….why not? No problem. It felt secure and solid. Let’s not forget I named it my Thunder Beast. The lid has a texture, which is why I didn’t create a epic fail. So basically it’s safer than a barstool to dance on.

AWESOME COOLER....BUT GET THE 77

So I was excited about this 65Qt cooler since I needed something smaller than my 77. Well to my surprise the coolers are almost identical on the outside dimension with minimum differences and the so why get the 65 when you can get the 77 ? Also, the 77 can accommodate TWO wire baskets and the 65 can not accommodate a single one since it doesn't have the grove to hold it in place. In terms of ice retention, both are very similar with 6.5 days on the 77 and 7 days on the 65....and that can well be because of the colors. My 77 is grey and my 65 is white. So all, in all, very similar coolers, but the 77 of course has a larger capacity and the comfort of fitting two wire baskets!

As good as coolers that are tripled the price!

We took a family Camping trip to Flathead Lake, Montana this past week. Our Lifetime Cooler was Fantastic! After pre-cooling it at home using two frozen milk jugs for a day and a half we took it on our trip. While camping we used just 1 block of ice and one 20lb bag of ice and it lasted for almost full 8 days! Our favorite feature by far is the ice retention and we love the design of the cooler. Another favorite feature, the rubber latches that open and close the cooler. They're extremely easy to latch and unlatch. Also, I love that I'm able to use two padlocks on the cooler to ensure that it doesn't get stolen. The cooler has an extremely strong seal too. So strong infact that sometimes it takes a bit of effort to open up the cooler. No doubt that this is why we were getting so many days of ice retention. I'm serious when I say that this cooler is on par with the more expensive rotomolded coolers but for a fraction of the price. I'm very very impressed! Just as a little side note, I added little stick on LED Lights on the top inside of the lid which makes it very easy for grabbing a late night camp snack or drink. I included a picture of that. Overall my family and I are extremely satisfied with the lifetime cooler and will highly recommend it to friends and family!

Great looking Cooler

I just bought this cooler it has 2 bottle openers and wheels to easily pull it. I love the sturdy heavy duty front rubber fasteners. The cooler itself is very rugged and thick but not heavy. This will be our primary pop up camper cooler and can't wait to get some miles on her.
