Great tool for tracking health!

Have been using Forerunner 55 for a little over a month. I track my water aerobics workout and my swimming. I am a senior woman that wanted to track my heart rate, sleep patterns and general health. I am pleased with the ease of using the watch, and the ease of using Garmin Connect. I have just started looking into the user connections. There is so much to learn but so much basic information that is easy to access. The great side light is everything I have used is included in the purchase price. No extra cost for Garmin Connect. There is a learning curve but it is not as steep as I initially thought. For me and my needs it is a winner! No problems with using it in pool water daily.

Not intuitive to use

I’ve been struggling to program this device since I took it out of the box. From the minute I turned it on, the first widget that constantly came up was the one to monitor my menstrual cycle. Every time. #1 - I don’t HAVE a menstrual cycle, #2 - I purchased it specifically to link with a non-Garmin Heart Rate Monitor. It took 2 days of fiddling to get it linked. Finally was able to find the correct widget on the watch. Now that it’s linked, the HR display is so small I cannot see it when I want to check it while I’m moving. If the ambient light is poor I can’t read the watch face at all and the light function is insignificant enough to not make a difference. Additionally, when I CAN see it, it keeps unlinking from the HRM. I plan on tinkering with the watch a little more, and if I can’t discover a larger display option for the Heart Rate widget, I’m returning it. It’s not a great device for me.

Great watch!

I got this watch a few weeks ago and it works for what I need it to do. The layout of the watch is easy to learn, I appreciate the battery life, and love having the buttons to navigate the screen. I got the watch to count steps, keep record of my walks and occasional runs. The watch has a GPS to track with accuracy. Highly recommend if your looking for a watch that doesn't break the budget.

Too complicated

I purchased this Garmin because my previous one would show total pace as well as current pace. I wanted to be able to glance at my watch and see these stats and not have to flip through buttons on a run. I had trouble synching this also to the Bluetooth. Watch was flimsy and relatively delicate. Directions were poor and needed to be more comprehensive.

Hate it!

Bought 2 weeks ago. Doesn’t automatically connect to Bluetooth. Have to manually reconnect at least twice a day like it’s brand new out of the box. The time is always wrong and has to be manually set. The charge lasts less than 24 hours. I reached out to Garmin support twice. First time was fine. Second time when I asked for a replacement or upgrade, they told me to take it back to the retailer. I’m doing that today and considering something other than a Garmin. I’ve been with Garmin for over 5 years.

It works!

The price is what made me decide on the forerunner 55. That being said, of course the more economical option does not have as many features. The screen is definitely the biggest downside. Lacks many colors and the display is not nearly as pretty as the more expensive ones. I am happy that it all the trackers work though.

GPS is unreliable

This watch has many features, but the only ones that interest me involve the GPS. I want to know how far I run and what my pace is, but the GPS is very unreliable. It works about half of the time. I can turn it on and it will read "wait for GPS" for my entire run. I'm running outside in open areas with plenty of internet access. Other times it works fine. I'm disappointed.

Thank you for posting a review, most likely the ephemeris data for the satellites needs to be updates. Please try pairing the device to the Garmin Express app using a computer. Inaccurate

Heart rate and intensity minutes are inaccurate. I just shoveled heavy, wet snow for an hour and my heart rate was 75 and I only had 10 intensity minutes which is a solute crap since I was sweating and out of breath. I ran on the treadmill last night and heart tracked between 60-80. This is not ok

Forerunner 55

Recently purchased a Forerunner 55 sport watch to replace my old Garmin watch that died. Completely satisfied with the Forerunner 55 and am very happy with the purchase. Has all the activity trackers plus heart rate, total steps throughout the day, sleep metrics and calories burned plus others. It gives great feedback through Garmin Connect. My only negative is that the watch face is smaller than my previous Garmin Forerunner and harder to read. Still a great watch for the price!! I recommend it.

Great watch , a bit missing

I got this as a birthday present and it is an amazing watch but I went to the beach this morning and found out it had no open water swim mode and that was really annoying because i wanted to track my swim. But apart from that I think it’s a great watch
