A Very Good Running Watch

My Forerunner 45 was no longer holding its charge through a full marathon, so I updated to the Forerunner 55. It has everything I need to train at an affordable price. You can get more bells and whistles in a higher grade, pricier model, but if you don't need it, this garmin will do fine: I have it set up to give heart rate, current pace, distance, overall pace, and in lap distance and in lap pace. I have to look at options to see if there is an elevation ascent widget I can add in. My next marathon has more climbing profile than my typical marathon, so I'm trying to train to specific uphill needs.

Works Great!!

I purchased the Forerunner to be paired with my Samsung Galaxy smartphone. The Forerunner is more compatible than any other watch/monitoring device I have yet tried. It syncs with my notifications and makes it really convenient to monitor my calls, texts and emails without having to get to my phone, especially when I am working out. I only wish you could control more from the Garmin Connect app on my phone such as when I am starting a workout. I get great feedback from the workout on the connect app, but can only start the workout from the Forerunner which is sometime hard to do when I am out running in the dark.

Superb Garmin Forerunner 55

The Forerunner 55 replaced my Forerunner 610, which I had owned for about eight years, and it's a vast Improvement. It synchronizes with the GPS almost instantly. It has a lot longer battery life and recharges much more quickly, plus the charger is a sure connection with the watch, unlike the finicky 610. The screen is very easy to read. My only slight complaint is that the paper instruction book was vague about setting it up and getting the right screens.

Like getting lost in a Persian bazaar

I had my Forerunner 35 for over 8 years. When it showed signs of fatigue, I bought a 55. I naturally figured all the limitations (technical and physical) of the 35 would have been vastly improved. WRONG!!! The display font is smaller, the buttons more resistant, the logic of command order and association with buttons nonsensical, and the ability to track data accurately when there's overhead cover (leaves, eaves, branches, etc.) just as poor. But boy, a gazillion new bells and whistles which I have yet to learn the purpose of and map the location of in my memory (which button accesses which attribute/datum) make it seemingly a very well-endowed watch. I also don't like how erratically it records my pace (jumping from 6:53 to 10:35 to 7:50 in each reading) and that it includes in its calculation of overall pace values of standing still (aka, 0:00) even though I've already started running before I press the START button.

Great product

This was a Christmas gift to me from my parents, and I love the watch. This is also due to the fact that my old one did not work well. I really like how easy it is to start an activity, but for some reasons it’s having trouble uploading my activities to my running app. Great product

Not Intuitive, DIfficult to Navigate

I had a FitBit iconic that I really liked, but it got recalled due to an over-heating defect. It was all touch screen and swiping. I'm struggling trying to look at online videos to figure out how to use the features I really care about. Why does the time take up 80% of the display?

WOW

I love my watch. It is very easy to use and has a lot of cool tools you can use as an athlete or not. I got it for running consistently. Tracks sleep well and the GPS works well. You can sink with Strava and it will upload your runs once synced. This watch is great!

Incredible

I’ve been wearing the forerunner 55 for about two weeks. It has fine tuned everything I do. I was able to lower my bmi, track miles ran, improve my pace, and work in my HR. I’m not great with technology and this thing is incredibly easy. Truly love it. Highly recommend for those serious about stepping up their accountability.

Overall great running watch with upgraded features

I upgraded from the Forerunner 35 to the 55. The GPS engages faster, which I really like. It also appears to be more accurate. I really like the Body Battery function (which wasn't on the 35). It uses HRV (heart rate variability), a more accurate measure to determine when or how long you need to recover from an activity. A few things I'm still getting used to--how many buttons are needed to push to get to various functions. It is more complicated than the 35, but that could be because I'm still learning how to use it. I'm also getting used to notifications not popping up instantly, but doing a step before I can see emails etc. Overall, it is a great watch and good value for the $.

Garmin Believer

I like it very much I use it to run/walk ! Timer alerts you by vibrating & alarm for each minute - watch provides great information on pace and distance as long with many other important stats, like heart rate ! I’m very pleased with the watch - it also monitors your sleep cycles and provides information that is very useful to me - there are multiple family members who own this watch and all love it - we have become a family of runners and I know it’s going to prolong our lives by making this effort - the Garmin 55 makes the process more fun and promotes a healthier lifestyle !
