Clunky and awkward navigation

I bought the forerunner 55 to replace my Fitbit versa to get compatibility with a phone app. I found another similar app that works with my versa2. My short time using the forerunner 55 convinced me to avoid watches with button navigation. In the future I’ll only use watches with touchscreen navigation.

5 stars all around

I've had this watch for nearly three years. It's still in excellent condition and functioning great. It's carried me through triathalon training, stroller walks, yoga, indoor bike training, swimming, regular daily life, and so much more. I love the flexibility of the watch faces to display a variety of data. With a quick glance, I can see intensity minutes, steps, calories burned, hr, stress, time, date, etc. I also use the timer function at least 3 times a day. The white color is still vibrant after all this time. The size is great, I'm a 5'7" woman and it looks proportional.

First Impressions

I bought my FR55 to test/compare it to my Apple Watch. I’ve felt my Apple Watch wasn’t consistent in capturing my true stats. So I bought a basic device (FR55), not too expensive, to give it a try. I’ve seen/heard lots of people “swear” by it. Honestly, my first impressions were “I don’t like it.” “It seems more complicated to navigate”, “I don’t like the appearance (UI)…. But I decided to give it a fair chance. After a couple of weeks it’s serving its purpose though I run with both devices to continue the comparison. The Garmin reads faster than Apple but I’ve had the AW for a few years now.

Easy to use, great for a runner

I had watched a youtube video on how to use the watch before I received it and it was just as easy as I expected to set up and go on my first run! I had been using the apple watch till now and was always frustrated at doing distances over 10 miles or activities over 90 min because the watch would die but the forerunner 55 has fantastic battery life. It does everything most runners or cyclists would want, and besides the lack of a hiking feature or power metrics, it's great

Been great so far!

I have wanted to get a Garmin for a while now (former long distance runner) and while I no longer can run, I use my Garmin in everyday life to track my heart rate and manage my chronic illnesses. Hopefully one day I will be able to use the rest of the great features!

Great Fitness Tracker

I've had the forerunner 55 for several weeks and it's a really great watch/fitness tracker. It's extremely responsive and has an always on display, so no waiting for the screen to wake up to check your stopwatch for intervals or pace information. It collects plenty of data for people like me who love data, and I haven't had any problems whatsoever syncing or using any of the great features, like workouts. It does have a learning curve since it uses 5 buttons instead of a touchscreen, but I think it's a fair tradeoff to get an always on display and 2 weeks of battery life. The screen resolution is enough, but it makes for a pixelated display that is not as sharp and some other smart watches.

Functional and stylish

I received my Garmin through the wellness program at work. I did not need the most expensive model out there as this is the first smart watch I have gotten for myself. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it is to navigate the menu. I like that I can personalize the watch faces. I am amazed at how fast my steps add up during the day and with just a quick glance I can view that.

Good upgrade from FR220

I bought this once my FR 220 battery went bad after several years and glad I chose this model. It is a great basic running watch with a lot of great features, some of which I’ll probably never use. My only suggestion is that Garmin shouldn’t have discontinued the foot pod because even when you calibrate it on a treadmill then go back to use it at a different speed it doesn’t seem to match up as good with the treadmill like my original watch did that had a foot pod. Other than that I like it!

Early Use Review

I bought my watch about a month ago prior to running a Half Marathon. I didn't even have a regular watch so needed something to keep track of time. The watch is very intuitive and keeps very accurate time, distance and pace. I really like the stats connected with the app after each event. I've had forerunners before and gave up on them because the controls were too easily accessed and touched unintentionally, units needed to be charged early and often. The Forerunner 55 addresses these concerns. Now just a matter of longevity.

Best watch I’ve ever owned!

I’ve been using my Forerunner 55 for about a month now and it is one of my best purchases to date. I finally hopped off the Apple Watch train and I’m not looking back. I’m a beginner runner and this watch has all the functions you need as a beginner and is very user-friendly. One of my favorite aspects about this watch is the battery life— I’ve personally gone a week and a half constant use and it will only be down to 30%. In all, if you’re thinking about buying it’s definitely worth it!
