It's Worth Every Penny!!

I purchased this controller because I wanted to play smash without holding back. I worried about the price for weeks. But I gave in once my GameCube controller died. I've played smash with just about every controller and this one lines up with the GameCube controller in terms of comfort and ease of use. As a melee player I still prefer the GameCube layout slightly, but this is a much better controller. It's firm and the weight is perfect. I've had zero issues with the drift and I can do everything perfectly. If you only own the in-box joy cons, and need a real controller for fast-paced gaming, I suggest you spend theoney and upgrade to the pro controller.

I knew somethin' was off...

The rumble is clearly different in these controllers, the motherboard is notably different from the official ones (I happened to have a Famicom custom shell I wanted to put on it), and some buttons have a biiit more click to 'em. Other than that it's almost like the official one.

A Must-Have

Much better than the Joy- Cons that are built-in to the switch. Basically required for any serious gaming. I like that pressing any button wakes up the switch (when in the TV dock). Oh yea, you basically need a TV Dock as well. Once you use the Pro Controller and a TV dock, you won't use the switch in portable mode anymore.

Unreliable right out of the box, very weird

Surprisingly this had joycon analog stick drift right out of the box. It took several calibrations and powering my switch on and off several times before it started working consistently. I bought this because my existing joycons were drifting and I thought "Well, the PRO controller won't do that, right?" Yeah, no. Nintendo's build quality is still a bit suspect. It did eventually start working but who knows when it's going to croak?

Item NOT as pictured or advertised.

They sent a Japanese version Pro Controller instead of the advertised North American Version. There was also a long black hair partially hanging out of the box that made all it's contents suspicious. It appeared "brand new" but the battery plate on the back had a separation from the main body and had stress marks showing on the plastic where it had been pried open before.

Comfortable gaming controller

I bought the pro controller because I wasn't sure if I was going to like using the standard controller with the joy cons inserted. Overall its a high quality gaming controller. the grips are comfortable. The pro controller buttons are large than the joy cons. It can be played wireless and wired. I use it when I play the switch docked in my bedroom. Makes a great second controller too.

Replacing old pro controller. Already broken.

The controller I got already came with stick drift. I had a pro controller previously that lasted about 3 years before it started getting stick drift. This one was already unable to center the right stick when neutral right out of the box. Depending on what game you're playing it's useable, but it's not something I want to deal with with a brand new controller. Recalibrating in system settings does nothing to fix this. I'm back to using my original controller which has stronger drift but seems to be more manageable. Examples: For Breath of the Wild, pulling your shield out centers your camera, but only if you're not already turning your camera, so the right stick needs to be in a neutral position. This controllers right stick is ever so slightly off center, so you're camera doesn't get centered. Again, useable, but not something I want out of a new controller. For Splatoon 2, the drift is subtle enough that your character doesn't turn on their own, so for this case it works just fine. However, the fact that it's already drifting concerns me that soon I will have random camera turning problems.

This was a hit as a Christmas Gift.

My daughter-in-law has RA and had put this on her Christmas Wish List this year so that she can play Switch games with her children without so much pain. I don't know how well it works but it was competitively priced and in stock at Walmart and she had a happy fit when she unwrapped it so she's happy and so am I.

Great Controller

The Pro Controller is a very comfortable controller. As a sufferer of arthritis, two hours of more of use of the joycons in the grip hurt my fingers and wrists quite badly. I have no problems with extended play using the Pro Controller. It has a 40 hour battery life on one charge and it feels quite good in your hands. I do have to say that as of the time of this review, the controller does not work with many of the e-shop only titles. However, this does seem to be getting patched on a game by game basis. If you like the dual shock 4 or Xbox One controller, you'll love the Pro Controller.
