Very much not like other Scotts products!

Doesn't work! I actually bought a couple of these and wish I had only bought one because I used it and it didn't work. I have a big bag I bought at the same time that is too late to return to the store but seeing as the kind in the jug didn't work, I have no doubt the bag won't either. It's a shame because I really like all other Scotts products. We've been complimented on our lawn before and I say it's because I use the Scotts Turfbuilder several times a year.

We are sorry for the disappointment you have experienced with the results of your recent seeding effort and would like to offer a few tips that may be helpful to you in future seeding endeavors. As with any seed product, Scotts Turf Builder EZ Seed requires both continuous moisture and warm soil temperatures. When one of these conditions is missing, poor germination is the result. Be sure to spread the Turf Builder EZ Seed evenly over the prepared area. Turf Builder EZ Seed should be sparsely applied to the depth of about 1/16" to 1/8" thick. If Turf Builder EZ Seed has been applied too thickly, germination will be poor. Also, make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used where you are seeding, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination of the seed. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. I hope these extra tips are helpful. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. Simply Does Not Do What It Says It Professes To

I'm a lawn guy and know what I'm doing. I've tried this product over two seasons in 8 different spots that I properly prep prior to use. This product just doesn't perform as advertised. In two seasons I only have one spot out of eight that produced moderate results. Going forward I'll go back to some hand seeding and fertilizing or cutting in pieces of sod.

Works Good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had several bare spots in my lawn that needed filling in. I was anxious to use this product. It seemed simple to apply and Scott has a great reputation for their projects to perform well. I was not disappointed. This product did as it was advertised. Easy to apply in the bare spots, water and it didn’t take long to start growing. It was formulated to work well, fill in with good quality grass. It worked!! I’m happy with the results.

Amazing Product but Detailed Instructions Needed

What is the "recommended amount so that seedlings have enough space to access water and nutrients"? These are in the instructions but it doesn't state the "recommended amount". I've used this in the past so many times and it works amazing on my lawn, like all Scotts products! But I never know how much to use and it never covers the 425 square feet it should. It would be helpful if you could indicate the Scott's spreader settings you should use, or give a better idea of the "recommended amount" in the instructions.

Easy to apply

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was very easy to apply. Germination was very good. Guessing > 90%. Used in both full sun and a shady area under a tree and both came out very nice. Again just writing words to fill out the mandatory word count. Very annoying.

Didn't work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried it once following the instructions carefully. No results. Bought more to try it again and made double sure I followed the instructions. Guess what. Didn't work again. I have always liked Scott's products in the past but this one I definitely do not.

Be sure to spread the EZ Seed Sun & Shade evenly over the prepared area. EZ Seed Sun & Shade should be sparsely applied to the depth of about 1/16" to 1/8" thick. If EZ Seed Sun & Shade has been applied too thickly, germination will be poor. Also, make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used where you are seeding, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination of the seed. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. I hope these extra tips are helpful. Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures for northern (cool season) type turfgrass seed (Kentucky bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue) must be at least 55° F for seed to germinate. For best results, daytime temperatures must typically be in the 60-80°F. range and not going below 50°F at night. Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low night time temperatures. We want you to be confident in our products. Would reccomend this highly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had been working with "dead spots" for years. After trying this product, we were sold. We keep some on hand all the time. The grass seems to grow overnight. All we have to do is add water. So simple!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used as directed in multiple locations. Exceeded expectations came up quickly, very good looking grass. Filled in along sidewalk, garage and a few dog spots. Very happy with the results. Highly recommended.

Worst Scotts product I ever bought!

I wasn't sure which product to use this time so I bought the EZ Seed once again and a bag Scotts top soil to mix into the soil. I also bought a bag of Scotts Patch Master. After 3 weeks, the EZ Seed didn't produce a single grass stalk. The Patch Master produced grass over 90% of the applied area! See photo's attached

This product did not work as well as expected

I had to re-seed with this product several times before the grass began to grow. With all of the seed that was sowed the grass should be very thick but it is spotty. I believe in Scotts seed so I will try a different Scotts seed when I re-seed next month.
