I used this product to reseed thin shaded areas and several bare areas in my lawn. I hand spread the product and was careful to have some dirt showing as instructed and kept it moist. Grass grew well in planting areas where the mulch that is included in the product happened to be amply applied. Seeds did not germinate elsewhere. I believe that there is not enough mulch in the product and the mulch is not evenly distributed in the bag. I used a 40 lb bag.

I have been very particular about my lawns. I had a few areas that were damaged by the public service company's equipment during an extensive gas line repair. Although I used Scott's grass seed and starter fertilizer, I was not having much success. So I gave the EZ seed a try last Fall. It was very easy to use, and very effecient. After following the simple instructions , I had a hugh success in less than three weeks!! It was so good , I used it again this Spring with the same fantastic results.

If you have nice green manicured grass, don't use this product to fill in bare spots. The blades of grass are wide and light green, it looks like weeds. This might be good for erosion control or somewhere you don't care what it looks like. I used it in front of my house around a tree. It did grow, but it is ugly grass. I'll be spraying that whole area with Roundup towards the end of the summer and starting over with better seed in the fall.

The seeds are encapsulated therefore the birds do not eat them and the seeds retain moisture. I have even skipped a day of watering and the seeds still spout. It is very convenient because you simply spread and water.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used Scotts ezseed in a large shady area in my yard which had become rather barren. The results were outstanding. Raked the area a bit and sprinkled the grass seed. Watered the area thoroughly and continued daily watering for a couple more days. Grass seedlings began to surface within ten days and I now have green grass growing in this area. Very easy to apply with the shaker and no other effort or product required. Extremely pleased with my results.

After great bare batch results with my purchase I bought more… the results was a complete disappointment. Not one blade of new grass after more than a month, didn’t do anything different in preparation and the weather was suitable for growth. Purchased through Amazon so I don’t know how long it’s been sitting on the shelf if that’s an issue… after looking at the reviews it looks like I’m not the only one.
