awful quality

Used to buy regularly. Family loves fish. Now, it is awful tasting…dirty taste and foul smell. Something has changed in the quality of seafood from Sam’s.

Tilapia with *extra* additives

This isn't just fish. It has sodium tripolyphosphate as well. Surprised MM endorses this since SC used to carry one with one ingredient, "tilapia". I will not buy this. You can find single ingredient tilapia at other stores. When SC switches out packaging check the ingredients...because they can change too.

Really Fishy & Dirty Tasting

Pay attention to the ratings. I should have read the reviews first. This product seems hit or miss in the ratings. I tried everything to get rid of the overwhelmingly fishy taste of the fish and the dirt flavor. I soaked it in buttermilk for 24 hours and cut out the center flesh where tilapia is known to have most of its fishy flavor. Nothing I did could make this fish palatable. Farm-raised may be more environmentally sustainable but it can also ruin the quality of the fish if the tanks are not kept clean and the water is murky and overly packed with fish, putting profit over quality. This can lead to unhealthy fish and bad flavor.

Member's Mark Tilapia Fillets, Frozen 3 lbs.

Bought about a month ago & used in one of our favorite recipes. The fish tasted "fishy", the 1st time this has happened with Sam's frozen tilapia fillets. I see it came from China, which is a disappointment. But more disappointing is that I used it in our favorite recipe, & now no one wants to eat it again. I only cooked 3 from that package, & have more in the pkg. in the freezer. Not sure I will buy this again at Sam's. Before this, we have always enjoyed Sam's frozen tilapia. I don't think I will use it again from Sam's.

Perfect quick meal.

I love that the fillets are individually wrapped/sealed which helps to prevent freezer burn from ruining this absolutely delicious fish. I prefer to just bake it in my toaster oven and then just drizzle lemon juice or lemon butter over it for a quick, easy and nutritious meal. I love almost all type of seafood/fish but this has become a one of my favorites.

Good enough

Besides the fact that they come from China, which has been the topic of a critical destination, these fillets arrive individually wrapped, very thin, and preparing them from frozen is a fast task. With preferred seasoning, served in broth, sandwich, or any creative option, they taste decently, and the price for 3 lbs is very inviting. How they are seasoned makes all the difference. I have battered them and served in tacos, to many good people approval. 4 Stars.

Bad fish!

I defrosted in the refrigerator and when I took it out to cook, it had a very strong odor, kind of like ammonia. I cooked it packed it in my lunch box and when I got to work and reheated it. There was a pungent smell, discarded it and decided against eating as the smell of ammonia means it is not fresh bur rather a sign of decomposition.

Awesome seafood restaurant quality!

We don't normally like tilapia that well but THIS is excellent quality. As long as you cook it on low heat & don't overcook it, it's fantastic! It's great with olive oil, butter, herbs, pasta & pasta sauce, grits, rice, etc.Even kids will enjoy it & it's VERY healthy.

Never buy again

Sam's changed the source of this product over the past few years. It used to be better. After it didn't meet my expectations, I stopped buying it. I was in a hurry so caved and bought it again from Sam's Club. Big mistake! I baked this using my usual method and spices. Although it flaked apart, indicating doneness, it was mushy and gross. I spit it out as soon as I took a bite. It was inedible. It was so bad that I don't think I'll be able to eat any fish for awhile. The rest of the bag has been tossed into the garbage.

Nasty Taste

I tried a couple of the fillets and they tasted really fishy and weird....it was so awful that I threw the entire bag out....I will never eat Tilapia again. I was disgusted at the chemical taste too....pretty bad to have to throw the entire bag out....I should have returned it...YUCK!!!!!
