What You See...

...is pretty much what you get. The price was right but there are a couple of things I wish were done differently. The first is the design of the top. I wish the "bowl" had been deeper & more pronounced in case of a downpour. I think I'll probably lose 30% of the water due to having been washed over the top. I also wish that the screen was a tighter fit but, it worked like it was supposed to work and satisfies the color code requirements of my homeowners association. I'd recommend this product.

Product comes as described

It comes as described and arrived in good time. We ordered this because we had ordered a similar item at the same price elsewhere and they cancelled our order at the last minute. The instructions, plummer's tape, and faucet are IN the barrel when it arrives, which is no big deal, except that the lid is not removable, you have to remove the debris filter (held in place by 6 screws), turn the barrel upside down, and reach in through the small round opening and fish them out. A small hassle, but if you have big hands or arms I'm not sure how this is going to work out for you. I wish I had known there's no lid as this is going to make cleaning the inside impossible. Also, the debris filter isn't going to stop much as the openings are pretty big, I'll probably buy some fine mesh and replace it. Also, it doesn't come with a diverter like most do, so you either spend more money, or cut off a chunk of your down pipe. We haven't had any rain yet so cannot give a review on how it performs. The area around the faucet has extra plastic melted on to it, so hope that prevents any leaks! Over all, so far, either spend more money and get a decent rain barrel, or spend much less and buy a barrel, a faucet, and do it yourself!

Faucet leaks

The body of the rain barrel is fine so far; but the faucet has to be installed by the customer. No matter how many times I tried to screw it in, it was crooked so I had no choice but to continue screwing it in even if was at a slight angle. Filled it with water and, of course, it leaked around the faucet - even with Teflon tape on the threads. Beware if you want to buy this product - you have to screw a metal faucet into a plastic barrel and there really is no way it can go in perfectly straight. Poor design.

New rain barrel

The rain barrel was easy to set up. This is a replacement rain barrel and a bit smaller than our original one. Our first one was set on a cement pad. After the first year it began to leak. We found that you should not but the plastic rain barrel on cement as it can cause a chemical reaction that will eat away the plastic. Our new rain barrel is now on a plastic stand.
