I have been using Garmin watches for years for general gym use and active jobs. I really like the app and pack of a monthly subscription. Unfortunately something is wrong with the garmin vivoactive 5 line. I have gone through 1 brand new one where the bezel separated from the base and screen popped out. I purchased a recertified one and the screen has gone completely black in just 5 months. My vivoactive 4 lasted over 2 years. That's why I went to the 5. But now I feel dumb. The watch screens are not lasting.

For the most part I like the Vivoactive 5, it's similar to the Fitbit Versa that I had. I like that the face can be customized for my needs. I DO NOT like that it continually connects and disconnects from my iPhone 15. I sent the first Vivoactive back because of this ISSUE but this 2nd one does the same which must be a Sotware problem. I also wish the face was a little smaller especially for smaller wrists.

I bought it to replace my aging Fitbit only to find that it didn't have the functionality I was seeking. I'm 68 and active. I wanted a device that would track my 4 mile walks, it doesn't. My Fitbit did including; average-max-min heart rate, miles traveled in hundredths, total & per mile time, steps and calories burned, and more. Update- I jumped the gun. Sometimes we get these surveys a little too quickly, but I'm the one to blame for not fully learning the functionality of my Garmin watch. It does everything I want to and is my new favorite workout watch. I give five stars.

I bought this to replace my much loved (but no longer working) Vivoactive 4. It's a lot easier to read! It also has new functions like the weather report that I'm using a lot. I'm using the strength and yoga tracking now, as well as the running function that I bought it for. I'm enjoying it so much I bought a Garmin scale to keep track of my progress. The only negative I've noticed is that it doesn't calculate stairs like the Vivoactive 4 did, but that's not a big deal for me.

I bought this Vivoactive 5 primarily from the recommendation of a family member. I should have done a little more research. My main desired upgrades (from my apple watch) was the long battery life and the sleep tracking. Total win for these 2 things! I only charge it once a week and the charging takes less than 2 hours. Awesome! The sleep tracking is also fantastic. My disappointments come from a few things: 1. I cant answer texts on my watch. 2. I cant use Siri on the watch. 3. It doesnt have any sound notifications. It only vibrates once for any notification, and ALL notifications (text, email, app, workout, etc) are all the same vibration, so I find myself checking my watch and phone CONSTANTLY. (The apple watch followed the settings of my phone, so if I had a certain sound for a text vs email vs app, the "ding" on the watch was different. So, I could hear the ding and know if I really needed to responding or if I could continue to just do my job. It also only vibrates ONCE, no matter that I have my phone set to notify me 3 times of an unanswered text, so I find that I am missing texts. I also miss calls because it only vibrates one little time (instead of a continual vibration until answered or declined). 4. It doesn't have an altimeter (wont calculate elevation gain, and therefore, no "hiking" activity tracking). I also realize that the Vivoactive is kinda the bottom of the feature list and therefore on the more affordable end. I could have paid more and gotten all the bells and whistles. The fitness part of this is spot on. I like all the details you can get from a workout. My mixed review is just that it is more of a fitness watch than an extension of your phone and that it probably just a "me" problem. Overall, I really do like this watch and do not intend to go back to my apple watch that I had to charge everyday.

I got this watch as a replacement for my first vivoactive 5. my original watch which was several years old. it stopped charging. Garmin replaced with a remanufactured watch at no charge. The remanufactured watch works fine and looks brand new. I am very pleased that Garmin provided the replacement watch at no cost. concerning the each itself. I love it. it looks great and does everything I need. I use it primarily for biking, hiking and walks, and basketball.

I am very happy with my Vivoactive 5. It's a huge upgrade to my old Forerunner 35 and has many more features without being too technical for me to use. I like simplicity and this fits the bill. Still learning all the features but I can get done everything I like.
