So much better than the 4!

My girlfriend got me the vivo active 4 when it came out. I always loved it. The battery started not lasting as long and my girlfriend got me the vivo active 5. It is so much more intuitive and much more responsive. The sleep tracking is definitely improved. The new LED screen is much better than the LCD of the 4. The battery life is great too. It's a wonderful upgrade and I highly recommend it.

Love this watch!

I had the Garmin Vivoactive 4, but gave it to my son to get this. The Vivoactive 5 has much better battery life, a much better interface, and an easier to read screen for these old eyes. Additional features like the sleep score & improved analysis give me much better understanding of my sleep patterns and how they respond to daily activities. The battery life is much improved - I get several more days of battery life than I did with the previous generation. The change in interface, from widgets on separate screens to "glances" on one screen makes navigation so much easier and faster. It's really slick!

Not as expected for the price!

VIVOACTIVE5 Step count is not accurate! I think it counts every move I make as a step.... Sleep score/time is not accurate....I could just be in bed and it counts as "sleeping". Other features maybe ok but didn't use much. I hope I can return it and get a different one. Otherwise, never again this brand.

Golf, Cycling, Yoga so far; happy with my purchase

I've had the watch for a couple weeks now. I've used it for Golf, Cycling, and Yoga so far. It works great. For golf, it automatically shows the distance to the green (front, middle, back); just what I want. And it can show the distance to hazards after a few clicks. After a round, you can see on a map exactly where each shot went. That's cool, but I don't expect it will help my game. For everyday use, I was able to select an alternate watch face to show time/date, heart rate, steps, and active minutes for the week. Again, this is what I'm interested in. It takes the watch 3 weeks before it can determine a baseline for heartrate variability, so I haven't seen the fullness of that feature yet, but I do like seeing the graph of nightly HRV on the connect app. Chis watch is a definite step up from my previous fitness tracker.

Open water swimming setting!

For pool swimming I preferred the VA 3 simply because the display was more legible for distance and time swam as well as time given at the wall i.e. rest. On the VA 5 when the stop button is pushed the parameters are not legible for me through my goggles and unless it can be changed the VA 5 does not give time at the wall i.e. rest so still need to use a pace clock. Example: the 5 is not helpful for intervals on rest X since it does not give time rested but a message “press top button to save”

50/50

I am getting used to it, however, not as user friendly as the I-watch. From what I can tell, you don't have audio alerts which I rely on. And for some reason I can't get my text messages to show up. When you google it has solutions but never for the options on this watch even when you put the specific watch.

I must have received a dud

The watch was in a different language. I went online to see how to change the language. In correcting the language I must have triggered a Garmin video that was in a loop that prevented any other actions being done. It wouldn’t power off, reset or go back to a watch face even once the battery ran out and then brought back to life. I returned it to where I bought it and am waiting for a replacement Vivoactive 5. Unfortunately I will not be able to get the beautiful orchid color I wanted.

Almost perfect

I bought my Garmin when Fitbit discontinued their web interface. I have RA which makes it difficult for me to access features on my phone. I also have issues with my eyesight, so accessing my data on a computer is helpful. I find the features extremely helpful in monitoring my health. I find the web access easy to read and use. The watch face is a little large, but other than that, I couldn't be happier.

It does everything I need and more

I had a Vivo move hr for several years and it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 1 day. I had been researching other Garmin Vivoactive watches and decided on this model. I'm a senior, so it took some trial and error before I got it set up. Really appreciate how much more information I have compared to the old watch. Also all the bands from the other watch fit this one, so a definite win. I'm sure there are many other functions that I am not using, but happy with what I am currently have. Also, the online user manual was very helpful for setting up the watch.

Love the display

I bought the VivoActive 5 about a month ago after wearing a VivoActive 3 for several years. The brighter, sharper display is amazing. I also like the much longer battery life. I don’t use for cycling since I have a Garmin bike computer. I will use for kayaking but the local lakes have about a foot of ice at the moment. For us northerners, it would be nice to have a snow shoveling activity but I suppose I could use hike. I use the “Glance” watch face which shows all the numbers I am interested in.
