Perfect size for what I use it for

The watch seems thinner than my first Garmin and does everything I need for running, walking, golf scoring, and weight training. Being thinner allows me to wear it for sleep tracking. I have not used this model for inside treadmill use yet since the weather has been good for outdoor. Auto activity tracking seems pretty reliable as well as it’s fun to enable tracking in the golf course app so I can see how crazy of a game I played. The one big difference is this watch does not have the common “always on” Garmin display so you have to lift your wrist or touch the watch face to see current display.

Vivoactive review

I've been using the Garmin Vivoactive watch for a few weeks now, and it's a mix of hits and misses. On the positive side, the design is sleek and comfortable for everyday wear, and the battery life is decent, lasting several days with moderate use. The GPS functionality is spot-on for tracking runs or bike rides, and I appreciate the built-in sports apps that cater to various activities. However, there are some drawbacks. The touchscreen can sometimes be unresponsive, which is frustrating during workouts. Also, syncing with my smartphone for notifications has been hit or miss, often requiring restarts to function properly. What I'd really love is to become a product tester or reviewer for Garmin. I'm passionate about fitness tech and believe I could provide valuable feedback to enhance product development. As someone who enjoys diving deep into the features and performance of gadgets, I could offer insights on user experience, software usability, and hardware reliability. Testing products like the Vivoactive would allow me to help shape future iterations by pinpointing what works well and what could be improved, all while sharing my findings with a broader audience eager to make informed buying decisions.

For it being 2024…

Absolutely love the watch. I am not too fond of the apps. The watch is comfy durable and a great choice for a first time smart watch owner. Can’t wait to dive further into it. 5 stars on the watch all around. Battery life is amazing. Being able to cancel calls incoming at my wrist … LOVE.

Exercise Centric

I've been using the Garmin vivoactive 5 for two weeks now, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Previously, I wore an Apple Watch for eight years, going through three different models, and I was always satisfied with the Apple Watch. However, the Garmin better suits my lifestyle and caters more to my needs as a runner. The Garmin watch is incredibly accurate in every aspect; if it says you ran a mile, you can trust that you really did run a mile.

Happy with this watch!

I bought this watch about a month ago and I am very impressed with it. The battery lasts for about a week , The many features available makes the most versatile fitness watch i have ever owned. It synchronized with my Samsung equipment without trouble. Thanks Garmin for making a great product.

I am still figuring out all that it will do

This is a computer on your wrist. It has taken me some time to get through all that it will do. What it does is impressive to say the least. The manual that can be downloaded to the cell phone is very useful, easy to read, and appears to have been carefully tested. In most cases the manual has been able to explain what is going on. One thing any owner must do is get down what buttons A and B do. Then it is a matter of figuring out how to record a walk or a run. I had no idea VO2 is so important. Being a Garmin this watch locks onto GPS satellites easily. The kool thing is that after a walk it provides a google map as to exactly where you went. It will likely take me another month to figure out all that it does and the information it collects. The best I can say is that it is more than worth the money. It is far better than anyother "smart" watch I have owned. This is my 5th watch. Oh, I do not have to charge this thing every day like every other watch I have had.

Photo/QR Code Option

It surprises me that there is not an easy way (or free app) for capturing my gym membership details since this is the primary activity why I bought this watch. My former Galaxy3 had this useful capability. Otherwise it's a good-value watch for workouts and health data.

Excellent Watch for Medium Level to Advanced Athletes.

The vivoactive 5 is an excellent watch for medium-level to advanced runners, hikers, and athletes alike. The GPS readings on it are near-perfect. It has a great battery life for long walks and runs. The interface is very user-friendly and attractive. I love the body battery function and it is really accurate. The sleep tracking feature is quite accurate as well. It is also easy to switch the watch band out. What I don't like is the weight lifting mode because it wants to count your reps and is very inaccurate (you can toggle this off and I do so.) I also do not like the watch band at all, it is uncomfortable but that may be a personal preference. Overall I have been very impressed with this watch and highly recommend it to anyone trying to get into Garmin at a higher level, without breaking the bank.

I like it so far, but little things annoy me

I really like this watch. I came from an apple watch so the battery life is IMPECCABLE. I love not having a dead battery after 10-12 hours. However, the watch itself feels light and cheap. My main annoyance is that you cannot flip the screen so the buttons are operable from the opposite side. It would be so much easier to press the buttons with my thumb as I have wrist issues so getting my pointer or middle finger in the right angle is a challenge. If I could flip the watch face and have the buttons on my shoulder side instead of the hand side it would be a gamechanger.

Lots of useful features at a great price

I’m not a runner or a hiker. I don’t do triathlons, and I don’t do marathons, I do a lot of daily walks, and I train with free and machine weights at a gym. I also train on a treadmill, stair master, and a spin bike. My Vivoactive 5 is perfect for my fitness needs. It replaced my vivoactive 3 and I love the battery life on the Vivoactive 5. It’s light weight and is comfortable to sleep with to track my sleep. I find it easy to use.
