Nice features

I have had mine about a month and I like it very much I like that it shows my phone calls and counts my steps just wish didn’t have to use your arm all the time when carrying something it holding on the treadmill handles not sure it counts my steps? And I like the sleep feature tell what kind of sleep I have and glad it’s waterproof also hold charge a long time I would recommend this absolutely

Made the switch and don’t regret a thing

I bought the watch last month and I have to say that coming from an Apple Watch this watch is amazing from the active sleep tracking to the opportunity to track so much my workouts plus my water intake is an amazing feature. I really love the Golf app as well and that was the main reason for getting the watch as I actively golf. Only thing is that this is not a smart watch so I can not respond to texts or emails through the watch but in a way it helps me discount at the end of the day and not be tied down to technology Do not hesitate to get this watch

If you’re hesitant, know it’s worth every penny!

I just started my running journey in March while using the VivoFit4 and quickly realized I needed something with GPS and the ability to track my heart rate as my Fit4 wasn’t truly meant for runs, just tracking basic activity (it had served its purpose well). Knowing I wanted to stick with Garmin as i’ve tried several competitors with zero luck, I bit the bullet and purchased the VivoSmart5. It has successfully helped me through my first 10k with its training features! I love that it notifies me of my heart rate, my stress, even tells me when i’ve reached each mile and my pace for it. While i’m no mega-athlete, this watch makes me feel like one! I’ll be a Garmin Girl for life!!

Golf, Cycling, Yoga so far; happy with my purchase

I've had the watch for a couple weeks now. I've used it for Golf, Cycling, and Yoga so far. It works great. For golf, it automatically shows the distance to the green (front, middle, back); just what I want. And it can show the distance to hazards after a few clicks. After a round, you can see on a map exactly where each shot went. That's cool, but I don't expect it will help my game. For everyday use, I was able to select an alternate watch face to show time/date, heart rate, steps, and active minutes for the week. Again, this is what I'm interested in. It takes the watch 3 weeks before it can determine a baseline for heartrate variability, so I haven't seen the fullness of that feature yet, but I do like seeing the graph of nightly HRV on the connect app. Chis watch is a definite step up from my previous fitness tracker.

Seems to be missing Vívoactive 3 features

I have used for about a month. The battery last a lot longer on GPS mode, 3-18 holes of golf. However there is no longer a Garmin connect activity that shows the map and miles walked during golf. Also annoying is the screen stays black and you have to shake your wrist to wake it up to see the time of day. I'm not sure the sleep metrics are very accurate.

Vivoactive 5

I bough this about a month ago & I love it. Very easy to start, does just what I want plus a little more. As a first owner of a smart watch, I wanted something easy to explore and understand and this watch does this. Also, I wanted to receive notices, emails, etc, but did not want the watch to talk to me, notify me-yes, but don’t talk, text- yes, limited responses-ok. I have a phone to use for voice. Also, it’s round and not too large and is comfortable on my wrist, like a watch should be—-in my mind. Very easy to wear and understand. .

Im impressed

I had a cheap watch that worked ok but it died. Tried various other cheap watches and they all had issues. This watch is amazing. The app that goes with it is really good. Im sure this watch will last me a long time. Also its nice being able to download watch faces as I have some vision impairment and was able to find a face that gave me the info i wanted in a format i can read.

Great all around fitness watch

The vivoactive 5 is lightweight and comfortable. It compliments my triathlete training along with my Garmin Edge. It has a variety of fitness activities and it is very customizable. No issues wearing it while sleeping. I've gone 5 full days of training and had ~10% battery life. There isn't an (other ecosystems) voice assistant, get the Venu 2 or 2S for that, but not an issue for me.

Back to Garmin

I bought this to replace a Fitbit Charge 5 which quit working less than years after purchase. Although this was more expensive, it works for my running and golfing and still tracks my fitness information like the Charge. Well worth the upgrade and I am hoping Garmin reliability makes it even a better purchase. I had purchased a 205 and a 310 XT which both still work over a dozen years later

Mixed feelings

Great for outdoor activity tracking so I'd recommend it if that's your primary use. It's terrible for weightlifting (like all Garmins) and not as convenient for daily wear/non-exercise usage as Apple Watches. The touch screen and side buttons are hit or miss - sometimes they are too sensitive and sometimes you have to press multiple times. But overall, I love it for running and Garmin Coach.
