Works great just like I expected.

I had a different brand of smartwatch that didn’t last 6 months they replaced it lasted 8 months. I looked on line for reviews of and the only complaint of vivoactive 4 was the company was too conservative and I thought that’s my watch. I beat it to death for the years I had it and it worked great but it a little scrtched up. So I really like the5 so far it’s been great.

Sorry Garmin!

I have used an Apple Watch since 2019, but their inability to produce a new model with a reasonable battery life really got me wanting to try something new. I'd really like to track my sleep and not have to charge my battery sometime in the middle of each day. My fiance is a police officer and loves his Garmin Instinct and it's crazy long battery life, functions for golfing and hiking! After research I went with the Vivoactive 5 for it's fitness tracking and great battery. My daughter also jumped on board and got the same watch. Unfortunately, I had issues from the start. I walk while working at my computer. You cannot set the watch to count steps accurately if you['re typing on your computer and walking. I even tried putting it on an ankle strap. The distance on the treadmill never matched the distance on the watch - yet it was almost spot on with my Apple Watch. I joined a sub-Reddit and tried multiple different things, turning off GPS and heart rate monitor, putting in your pocket and a few other experiments - none worked nor tracked distance accurately! This might not seem like a huge deal for some, but this is mainly what I use mine for so it is for me. The battery is amazing, sleep tracking so insightful! The interface could use some work and is not smooth, it feels very "android" and not like Apple, which unfortunately I've been indoctrinated to love! Old habits die hard I guess, and so I returned my Vivoactive 5 and went back to my Apple Watch which I have to charge in the middle of the day for about an hour if I want to wear it through the night. My daughter really loves hers, and I really wanted it to work for me, but the distance being off so greatly was a hard pass. Sorry Garmin!

love this watch but the screen locks up frequently

I absolutely love this watch, I would give it 5 stars but the screen locks up frequently. I had one prior and it was doing it so we sent it back and I got a new one on the 9th. It locked up 3x in the first 24 hrs. It has done it 3 more times since. Once for well over an hour. The watch still counts steps while it's locked up but vibrates a lot so I have no clue what it is doing. It once sent out the emergency alert while locked up and I couldn't shut it off. Other than this I love the watch. I wish it had a hike function. I love the stats it gives me after a run and how it breaks them down. I love the night time mode.

Overall a great watch, too many features!

Bought about a month ago. It works great. There is almost too many features. I came from a Fitbit user for years so learning how to navigate the watch has been part of the fun. It’s crazy how some workouts it automatically knows what movements I’m doing and what muscle groups I am working. I like the weight and size. I have small wrists and it fits great for me. Only thing I would say is I did my research seeing if the screen was scratch resistant or if I needed a screen protector. I found not to use a screen protector. But already within a month there is some minor scratching. It’s kind of driving me nuts but you can only see it in certain lighting. Over all happy with my purchase. Just wish the screen would always look as good as new.

Hate it!!!

Battery life is not as good as my last one, won't stop disconnecting from phone and the button to turn off alarms takes 7 to 10 times to make it stop. Even though there are buttons almost everything is done on the face which I hate. I have Tremors and it really makes it hard to use. I loved my last Carmen because the battery lasted 10 days and I could use the buttons to get through menus but not with this one. Seriously rethinking garmin.

Not sure how accurate the stress measurement is

Have the watch for 6 weeks and never got the Body Battery pass 55%, and many times it stayed at 5% for half a day. There are also discrepancies among different apps/metrics suggestions - "Your Body Battery is low today, try to take it easy the rest of the day", and then the recovery time is 0 hour and exercise. It is a bit confusing. I also got higher stress measurement during sleep than during the day which I can figure out how. I do like the GPS tracking for my walk and the activity measurement seems accurate.

Best fitness watch ever.

I started with another watch to track my weight loss journey and began to run/ walk 5K's and I needed accuracy of my miles. The watch I had never gave me the correct miles. I joined a running group and asked what watch would be best for my 5K training and everyone said Garmin. I began my research and found the Vivoactive 5. I must say I love everything about this watch from the body battery to the naps. I have never had a fitness watch that was like a buddy. Vivoactive 5 is a must have and I will be using Garmin for the rest of my life.

Great Fitness Tracker | Simple and Easy

The Vivoactive 5 has been a great fitness and health tracker these last few weeks. I may not be the most in shape, or use it for all of its activities, but it has done a fantastic job of setting benchmarks for my overall health and well being. If you are a hardcore runner, cyclist, or any other athelete in need of a fitness tracker I might recommend something on the higher end side of Garmin's offerings. I use my watch mainly for Mountain Biking, Soccer, and the occasional run. Although the part I think I find myself using the most is the hydration log. This feature has been holding me accountable for the amount of water I do (or don't) drink every day. I highly recomend this Garmin watch if you are new to the fitness tracker world, or just want a cost effective smartwatch.

Everything I need right on my wrist

My boyfriend got this for me for Christmas, and it’s everything I need as a runner, HR, Calories, pacing, VO2 max, etc!! So many features! And it’s really easy to understand real quick! I didn’t even have to really read the manual to get it. I love it !

VivoActive 5 Unimpressive Functionality

I've wore the Vivoactive watches, 1 and 3 since April 2015 and absolutely loved them. I'm an Apple iPhone guy but always chose Garmin products due to their durability and battery life. Vivoactive 1 & 3 were great watches for their time and I had high hopes for the 5 but they have all fallen short. Battery life has been great until the recent updates, which required me to completely reset the watch back to the defaults. The touch screens are really picky and extremely short even with the settings extended and set to low sensitivity. You can't get through the settings without the watch timing out and going back to the main screen constantly having to restart the seek and find process. I've this watch for nearly a year and wear it everyday, only taking it off to charge. This might be my last Garmin VivoActive, maybe going to a higher brand watch of theirs. But certainly frustrated with this watch and wish I took it back months ago.
